It would seem that you favor a certain look, that comes from the angle created by that heel height, and your particular shoe size. Do you have smaller than normal feet--like size 5 or thereabouts? That would explain, as also, are you measuring them from the back or the front of the heel? Sears/JC Penney/Monkey Wards would measure the stated heel height almost invariably from the front of the heel when they would describe shoes in their mail-order catalogs. Obviously their target market wasn't fashionistas looking for the highest heels they could find, as opposed to women who preferred to avoid standing out from the crowd (or were afraid of the pain of 5" heels, but figured they could handle 3-1/2" OK).
