Hi Nat,
I dont have private messages so heres my email in case you want it:
lauraquack@hotmail.comMy waters went on Wednesday so I had to go in for monitoring-they had me back in Thursday night to be induced. About 830am Friday I started to get contractions, had some breakfast and walked around by 10:30 they were coming every 3 minutes and lasting a minute and were really intense-I told the midwife but she told me to get a bath (I wasnt coping well at this point) got in the bath for an hour and it did subside for a bit but then they came on even stronger like every 2 minutes and I was getting intense back pain too. TR went and got the midwife who said she couldnt do anything as the labour ward had to send for me first (????!!!) she checked me over and said I was 4cm so half way there, by this point I was begging for pain relief and starting to have a panic attack and hyper ventilate as they were getting so close together, I can remember saying "please why arent you helping me?!" at 11:40 a wheelchair finally arrived to take me down to the labour ward, I hadnt been breathing steadily so I'd made myself all lightheaded and shakey so didnt want gas and air. My midwife came in and introduced herself and went off to get some pethadine. Whilst she was out of the room I said to TR "I need to push" and started pushing, the midwife came back in and Tim told her that I was pushing, she hit the alarm and another midwife came running in and put an apron on her as I was starting to deliver. At 11:57 Lillie Mei was born weighing 7lbs 13ozs (no one expected her to be so big!!!) I cant believe I didnt actually get any pain relief what so ever. After shed been delivered I went into a bit of shock and my blood pressure dropped really low, I just remember shaking and not really caring what was going on around me.
I had lots and lots of gas and air whilst I was stitched up, I was so high I was laughing hysterically at everything that was being said-at one point the midwife asked TR how much paternity leave he has (he is self employed) and I started laughing my head off. As my waters broke early Lillie had to have 24 hours of 6 hourly observations-all were past with flying colours. We stayed in hospital Friday night which was pretty horrible as I was kept awake by all the crying babies and people arriving at the ward etc. We had been told by the pediatrician that we would be able to go home Saturday. Saturday afternoon we asked the midwife when we would be going home, she said that I wasnt on the going home list for the day. By this point I was really fed up of being in the hospital and as I knew Lillie was completely healthy burst into tears, one of my mums friends who is a midwifes assistant called in to say hello and TR explained what had happened. She went and spoke to the head midwife who came and said she didnt think i would want to go home as I was a first time mum. I explained that I'd rather be at home and that I was happy with all the baby stuff as I worked as a nursery nurse for years. She said she was happy to discharge us!
Shes a very happy baby who sleeps all day long with only a couple of feeds but then feeds every 1-2 hours throughout the night. I will put some pictures up when I find my phone cable, she is gorgeous and I am totally in love!
Glad you had a nice christmas with Libby, love to everyone else good luck with all the baby making! xxxxxx
