Hi Louise,

My name is Jesica and I posted the message about walking along muddy paths. Thanks for yoiur reply and advive, - I think I am getting the hang of walking on mud know, although I always worry that I might slip and fall, getting covered in mud!!

I manage don't wear trousers when it is very wet as I know they will splattered with mud. I have managed to avoid getting my skirts muddy, - the main problen is that when it is wet my shoes get very muddy. Do you have the same problem ever?

I usually take my shoes off in the office or take slippers to change into. Fortunately I am ablt to do this in the office. Have you any similar experiences?

Hope to hear from you soon, and once again thanks for your suggestions.

Jesica.

But how can you avoid getting your heels stuck in the mud??? For me it's always hard to pull them out...

Hi Jessica,

eeww! muddy trouser bottoms, not nice, glad you've managed to avoid that. My shoes don't tend to get very muddy. I wear nice stilettos with little thin soles so I'd be pretty careful and if I thought they'd get very mucky I wouldn't wear them. Where I walk there's usually just enough muddy film to make the tarmac a bit skiddy! Its not like I walk to work through a bog!

If my shoes get mucky a bit of kitchen towel or whatever to clean them usually does the trick. My stilettos have smooth soles (hence the slippy slidey moments I guess) so I can just wipe the bottoms clean, they don't cake in mud like grippy grooved/treaded soles do!!

Hi Lousie,

Good to hear from you again. I sent you an e-mail on Mon, did you receive it and would you rather communicate this way?

You sound lucky not having to walk through too much mud, When your shoes are mucky do you just take them off and wipe them, and then put them back on?

Don't get me wrong, we love our new house, but all the mud on the un-finsihed roads is a nightmare, - I will be glad when the site is finished and the contractors leave, ( we were one of the fist to move in!!).

Yesterday, it was wet again and I had to walk through all the mud on my way to work. I just wear the same pair of shoes all the time at the momment and am resigned to them being muddy, it is not worth bothering to clean them as they will get messy as soon as it is wet again, bring on the warmer, drier weather!! They are too muddy to wear in the office, so I just change into a pair of slippers in work, - sounds un-profeesional I know, - have you ever done this?

What other surfaces do you find challenging. I find grass, wet or dry, quite hard to walk on in smooth heels, - do you find the same and what do you do?

Also, I know it's not a surface but navigating very steep stairs or steps is difficult as well, any suggestions or experiences?

Hope to hear from you again soon.

Jessica.

Hi Jessica,

I'd love to communicate by e-mail that would be fine, but I didn't get your message, probably because my e-mail address looks wierd on this site, or perhaps I typed it wrongly its, louise_heels@yahoo.co.uk

Hope you can send me another message v. soon or find me on Yahoo instant messenger as louise heels and try that!

You're dead right about grass being challenging btw, they don't call wet grass "green ice" for nothing and its a nightmare if I have pointy stilettos on..

Hope to hear from you soon,

Love Louise xx

Most of my stilettos have either a metal heel or are metal tipped. When wearing heels in a shopping center, I find that it can be dangerous! Most shopping centers have tiled floors, and shiny smooth tiles on that!!! Wearing thin metal heels is a task and a half as the metal can slip so easily on those floors!

I find that its ridiculous that builders lay these types of tiles....They obviously do not have women in mind that happen to be wearing heels or for that matter older folk in mind either...

I hope they read this post!!!

Hi Louise,

I have tried e-mailing you a couple of times, but I don't think they are getting through!!

How do you manage walking accross grass in heels, I find it really slippery with leather soles, and am always worried about slipping or falling over!! Sometimes, I am tempted to take my heels off and carry them!!

I saw on one of the other threads, that you mentioned waiting for and travelling on busses. I know what you eman, it can be un-comfortable. If I am wearing courts, I sometimes just slip them off while waiting for the bus, and stand on them to give my poor feet a bit of rest, - does this make sense?

Anyway, hope to hear from you again soon, and please let me know about the e-mail.

Jessica.

Today, I slipped over on my heel.

I was walking to work this morning, and it was raining. I walked into the shopping centre, to take a short cut to the office. It was about 8.45AM. The floor in the shopping centre was polished and my leather soles were wet. Suddenly, I lost my balnce and slipped on my heel!! Luckily, I did'nt fall over, but still it was'nt very elegant.

My ankle hurt a little, and I did'nt want another accident, so reluctantly I took my heels off and walked through the centre in my stockings feet.
When I arrived in the office my ankle was still painful so I took my shoes off and have spent the morning limping around in my stockings feet!!

My ankle has swollen a bit. I am hoping it will be better latter, as I only have my heels wity me, and it is still wet outside!!
