Equality Act (2006) In force, April 2007.

It was decided that it was wholly inappropriate, and that the evidence was non-existant. I am thinking of going into law, and so my father regularly tells me about various peices of legislation. So, this I do know!

Blood donation
28. —(1) This regulation applies to any person operating a service for the collection and distribution of human blood for the purposes of medical services ("a blood service").

(2) Subject to paragraph (3), it is unlawful for a person operating a blood service to discriminate against a person on grounds of sexual orientation in the way it affords him access to any facility for the donation of his blood.

(3) Nothing in this regulation shall make it unlawful for a person operating a blood service to refuse to accept a donation of a person's blood where that refusal is determined by an assessment of risk to the public based on—

(a) clinical, epidemiological and other data which was obtained from a source on which it was reasonable to rely, and

(b) the refusal is reasonable having regard to that data, and any other relevant factors.

Hmm... So a then... the same factors that rule out gay men also rules out drug users?
Drug users that share needles?

The law is thus:

Gay and uninfected: Can give blood.

Gay and infected: Cannot give blood.

Straight and uninfected: Can give blood.

Straight and infected: Cannot give blood.

Drug users: Cannot give blood.

That's the law. Get the picture?

Exactly Scott! And so if anyone is to blame for the death of people through infected blood, it is the health care establishments for not checking the blood out properly before receiving it!

They are non profit organizations that are spending very large amounts of money for testing at the current state of technology. A substantial portion of donated blood, most blood donated in some countries, is reduced to plasma to be sold to cosmetics companies to pay for tests and all the other overhead involved.

If you're going to "blame" someone, blame the HIV infected people, especially those that couldn't be arsed to find out if they are infected.

Sorry, I couldn't let that one pass. Non profit organizations work their arses off for little enough gratitude as it is.

It takes 10 years for symptoms to appear with HIV.
That's a long time.
That time is what allowed the ORIGINAL transmission into our blood supplies go undetected.

Removing that ban opens the door for drug users and street prostitutes.
That means the most promiscuous get to donat yet another unknown disease!

If I were you Daniell... at your young age... consider a personal blood bank!

Unlike the rest of the population Danillef... Scott's millionair dad can set aside Scotts own personal donations for later use.

I guess the upper classes don't have to swim in the swill of a commoners blood.
Will they?

Your a lucky young man Scott!

Blood banks can't refuse to take blood because it would make gay people feel bad and unappreciated.

Blood banks can and do throw out or earmark blood for cosmetics based on any criteria they want. They've done it for decades and have no reason to stop doing it.

Don't get your panties all knotted.

So your saying the an uninfected gay person's blood is inferior to an uninfected straight person's blood?

Correct?

I don't see how anyone can answer yes, unless they are completely prejudice.
