It's published in Social Trends. It's a booklet.

I don't believe it's _, but it might be. If you are so interested, look for yourself.

And I notice you don't provide evidence of your claims anywhere.

Who is the publisher? This is a bit like saying you got the statistics in a booklet called, well, "social trends".

It is available on the web, on the Office of National Statistics (UK) site.

It's called Social Trends 37. Type that into google and enjoy!

I'm looking at it. No need to be obnoxious about it.

This is on the face of it ridiculous. First of all Civil Partnership means marriage. Secondly, you need to work on your critical thinking. If there are 15k gay people married in one year and 15k gay people married in the next year, but gay people are getting married every year and it's increasing proportionally to the population, then -someone- got divorced. Now doesn't that make sense?

Scott L. Martinez wrote:Of 15,000 heterosexual marriages in the same period, statistically, 1200 would have failed.

Actually there were 155,000 divorces out of about 1.2 million married couples. The proportion is .7 to 1 per year, with proportionally less people bothering to get married. This includes gay marriage as the government doesn't break out the sexual choice of those getting married.

It's more interesting the 42% of children in the UK are born with a single parent. I find that statistic more frightening.

Scott L. Martinez wrote:Clearly, a gay relationship is a LOT more stable!

Then I suggest you find a good man to settle down with. Children are more important than your particular sexual preference.

My example was clear.

I said there have been 15,000 civil partnerships and none have ended as of yet.

If those had been 15,000 marriages, then statistically by now, a large number would have failed.

Furthermore, civil partnership is 'marriage' but is NOT treated as such.

They are treated completely separate.

And don't bother turning on the accusation of me being gay, because, I AM NOT! It is just a petty way for you to attempt to win.

If you don't post back I'll know you've been blocked

They are treated exactly the same under the Civil Partnership Act of 2004.

I didn't accuse you of being gay, I simply pointed out that by your logic you should become gay. I doubt I'd be banned, but you're welcome to complain if you want.[/b]

My dad is a lawyer, so I know.

Gay people in civil partnerships are given the same rights as married heterosexuals. But the "divorce" element, although pretty much the same, is listed differently as an "annulment". It isn't lumped in together as you suggested.

I would have thought anyone would know that people do not "become" gay. I am not sexually attracted to males, so it is an impossibility.

My dad is deceased and the other retired. So? I'm not an expert on either.

So? As far as the data on divorces - "Figure 2.9 - Data on divorces #2 Includes annulments. Data for 1950 to 1970 for Great Britain only."

And this is important for what reason?
