Hmm, yes, thing is, living in Scotland there are always comments made whilst not in the presence of the English such as "who's against them in the rugby? We'll support their opposition" etc and having lived in both places I find that generally us scots are more family orientated i.e. weddings are more about having a laugh and spending time as a family than getting royally pissed and not being able to remember being punched in the nose the next day.
Sure, this is probably a generalisation but Mum's marrying James on Saturday and he and his family are english. His sister who lives in yorkshire isnt coming due to "not feelin the best" having come off her anti-depressants without telling her doctor. On mum's side, however, we have elderly relatives coming up from south england (originally scottish) and relatives from Canada (also originally scottish). We didnt expect them to make it considering how far away they are but they are more willing than many of the yorkshire lot hehe.
