Re: Implanon contraceptive implant-violent attacks

Hi

I would like to add that I am now on my 2nd implant.

After 3 years of no problems with the first I opted for another.

I wish i hadn't, I have had no stop bleeding (which i now have to take the pill for aswell as still have the implant in) Also, I can not control my temper any more.

I seem to lash out at the smallest things. Not just an argument but literally lashing out and attacking my partner for no reason. I dont even remember how they start or anything! Am I the only person to suffer with this sort of problem?

I am going to see comeone if i find out this has nothing to do with the implant but I have NEVER in my life hit anyone, and i find it too much of a coincidence that i have started to within a month of having the 2nd implant in.

HELP!!!!

They will do anything to stop you having the implant removed as its a lot of money wasted for them.

I'd just play on words a bit and make it sound worse than what it is. Dont fall for the 'give it time' phrase like i have done this time.

Insist that you want it removing asap

It is amazing how so many people can be feeling like this, yet we aren't told. I decided on the implant because i was in a long term relationship and on my last year of university.

the first three months were absolute hell. I was in tears every day. It sort of setteled down and I had a 8 day period every 2-3months. I was still very hormonal. I hated not knowing when my period was going to come.

I have had pregnancy symptoms for the last month and have taken tests. the first one said positive, the last 3 have said negative. It messes with you head. I have come around to the fact imnot pregnant now, but I feel disapointed that something can make you feel so sure, and not have anythingto show. I have bloating. cramps, spots, very tender breats, nipples changing colour, heartburn etc.

I am going to have it removed next week (well i have my first appointment with my new doctor). I hope he will just take it out. I've put up with this for 18 months. Im getting married in 2 1/2 months and I can't concentrate on anything.

its given me insomnia, slight depression, anxiety to the point i feel paranoid just going to the shop by myself.

has anyone else had a pregnancy or false pregnancy on inplanon?

p.s. it has also lowered my sex drive, and im only 21! :tounge:

Hi everyone, its so nice to know other people are suffering!

I had my second impant put in in October and it is just not the same. My other one had been in for three years id had no periods at all and life was pretty simple. With my new one I have lost every single ounce of my sex drive, i HATE it. I am also finding it soooo hard to lose weight, and to those saying its down to exercise i think thats crap, I am in the gym working out 4 times a week, i eat very well drink loads of water. I do however have NO periods still which most people like but my body just doesnt feel normal...

These are the main reasons that I want it removing, I want to just use condoms for a while (my main reason is our wedding coming up in June i really want to look my slimmest!)... I am just wanting to know if its worth saying to the nurse that those are my reasons for removal as I know people have had trouble getting it removed (how ridiculous is that anyway!)...Or am i best just saying we are trying for a baby? help!

Hi everyone, I had my implanon removed on Dec 17th, 2008 it is now Jan 7th, 2009 and I haven't gotten a period yet ( I didn't get one while I had the implant in either) It was in for around a year and 3 months, insted of starting the pill right away I decided to wait until I got a natural period before I started taking the new pill (ya know give my body a break from the hormones).
Anyone know when I may get a period, or when did you get one after removal??
Thanks CAROLINE!

Hi Guys

I have had some advice off an _ doctor in regards to my rpoblems with the implant.

I was given this website to have a look at: http://www.rxlist.com/implanon-drug.htm

Its really good, it gives every little bit of detail about the implant and tells you more about the side effects that what we are told and given in leaflets.

Hope this helps you all. Im going to see my doctor for removal of mine asap due to my attacks!!!

:D

Hi, I got the implanon inserted two days ago. And while checking it I felt a small bump in the middle of the implant, this hurts to touch, while the rest of that area has healed completely and is fine.

I'm extremely worried, could someone please help? :(

Thank you in advance for your help.
HELLO TO EVERYONE AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thanks for all your comments. i had my baby in april of 08 and had the implant in for the first time in july, i have always been on the pill. its all ok but with two major things i have notice. 1. THE WEIGHT GAIN and 2.THE NO SEXUAL DESIRE. i am heavier now than when i was carrying my baby, for the first time in my life i have reach the 15 stone barrier, i have always and is still a healthy eater and exercise junkie, but the weight just keeps coming on. and as for the sex thing i have had the implant since july 08, and only had sex three times with my hubby, ( i say that the implant is a marriage breaker) i am going to see the doctor tomorrow to booked an appt to have it removed. i need to get back into my nice clothes and give my hubby what he is so much wanting.

Hi There

I'm currently on Cerazette (which is supposed to be the pill form of the implant?) and am thinking about switching to the implant for convenience really. I haven't had the horror side effects that alot of people have had from Cerazette and was wondering whether anyone had moved from Cerazette without side effects and then had a horrible time?
Any information would be great!

Thanks

I had the implanon put in 3 yrs ago and at first i bled very heavily on and off for bout 1 yr and a half but my appetite went and i lost weight on it. The reason i got it is that i put on 3 stone with the pill so couldnt be bothered anymore. I am now about to change my implanon and get another as i find it great (havent had a period for past 8 months!) . However as its still in my arm a week after expiring as i cant get an app to change it yet, i been feeling really nauseated n tired. Was just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience?? At least then i know what i can put it down to!! thx

Hi,

I used to be pretty obese and started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose much weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss supplement. I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. Within 4 months I managed to lose about 65 pounds. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now. You can read more about the lady's article at

Lost Implanon

Postby karfi90 on Wed Jan 14, 2009 12:36 pm

Hi everyone,

There are loads of posts here about the side-effects of the Implanon rod, but none about lost rods!

I'm currently with my third Implanon inserted, along with the second one, whereas he could not be located in my arm and removed. My gynaecologist tried locating the rod using ultrasound, but did not succeed. So I was sent to an MRI ( magnetic resonance imaging ) and there my arm was marked for operation. After a 45 min operation under local anesthesia the surgeon could not find the rod so he closed up and then inserted the third Implanon rod. The gynaecologist and the surgeon ensured me that leaving the lost Implanon in the arm would not have any effects on me, ever. I luckily have never had any side-effects of using Implanon, but am considering removal because I want to conceive.

After doing some research on the Internet on my own I found this out: "If the implant cannot be removed, this may result in infertility, pregnancy outside of the womb (ectopic pregnancy), or inability to stop a drug-related allergy." Citation: http://www.contracept.org/implanon.php and http://www.implanon-usa.com/consumer/whatisimplanon/faqs/index.asp?C=75337398274744560185&svarqvp2=0#186761

Since I am getting considering having a baby, I'm shocked. Has anyone here the same story to tell?? Is anyone out here that has a lost rod and has conceived? Maybe I'm highly optimistic to think so since "Data suggest that around 1/100,000 are difficult to remove"!!! Citation: http://www.6minutes.com.au/articles/z1/view.asp?id=60563

With hope,
Kelly

Ive had a kind of mixed expierience...

I got mine in october 2007 and it was great it hasn't effected my weight or spots and about a month of having it my spotting stopped and i didn't have a period for a whole year! It was great i was praying it would stay like this for the whole 3 years but no such luck!

The week before christmas this year a severly heavy period started and im still on it! Gettin mine out this week i can't handle this anymore, im contantly tired in pain and emotional, i wouldn't recomend this to anyone. Although the pill is a bit rubbish i miss having a regular period and i really hope mine go back to normal after this horrible thing is out. Its an easy contraceptive i guess but not worth it in my opinion.
