paratrooper, more man then some people will meet in their lives. I can say that here in the states my little brother did it openly, and most of the family laughed behind his back, which bothered me. So if people aren't saying things they very well could be.

I've tried it a few times, feels great, not worth the hassle. I resign to clippering the underarms for sanitary reasons, Id stink by 10 if I didn't.

Every girl I've ever dated has said shaved legs were not her thing. But a few have said my dark black arm hair was disgusting. I had one girl grab my hand once, and with a genuine look of scared concern told me that I had something on it, oh oh my god that's your hair....... also had one say I needed an ass wax..... no.

to sum it up I'd do it if image is your thing, it's not worth it, but if you want a cleaner more comfortable body that feels awesome against another shaved body, then give it a try.

Looks to me like a matter of personal preference. Hairy anything looks worse than smooth (I even like shaved heads on both men and women) to me.

Go for what makes you happy. The happiness of therest of the world is not your problem.

Im a 17 year old guy, im italian so i have pretty hairy legs and i have family and friends who i know will judge me if i shave my legs. But i hate them and have found that as the years go on my confidence has gotten worse and worse. I want to know whether its worth it or whether you end up looking red and pimply and so forth. I searched on google about shaving my legs and found this page, so im wondering if anyone has any advice.

Shaving your legs is a personal preference. If you are concerned about what others will think, try using an electric trimmer and trim them. Since it is summer, you could trim them shorter each time, eventually leading up to shaving them if you want. By trimming them first, you will see if anyone actually notices and says anything. If you are not sure about shaving them during the summer months, wait until winter when you will not have them visible to others and try shaving your legs, that way if you don't like them shaved, you will have time for the hair to grow back. I have never had the problem of having the red bumps when shaving my legs.

I have noticed more men are shaving their body hair now days. I personally don't like body hair, so I either remove it by shaving or having it waxed professionally. I have had my back and arms waxed before, thinking about having my legs waxed this summer so that I don't have to worry about shaving.

Ive always hated my hairy legs (inc. the back of my thighs) so since about 12/13 ive never wore shorts and avoided goin swimming (that sounds bad when i type it, but i live in ireland so its too warm. Anyways my arms are hairy but i dont mind them at all. If i wear shorts they have to cover my knees! I suppose im gettin more confident with my legs so ive been wearin shorts more often. Ive also started lookin at myself in a full length mirror n they look ok in that (well not as hairy as i imagine). Im still considering shavn them, my dads legs do not have any hairs at all, i got the bad gene then!I think its all about confidence, yes hairy legs are manly (on other people?), smooth legs also look good tho. (pale legs show hairs more so ive started using fake tan before i wear shorts, it evens my colour up (arms tanned/legs white! not good) and helps hide the hairs (also makes me look Italian!)

I used to shave my legs.

Then tried waxing, which I thought was expensive.

So I have gone in for laser hair removal. I have had 3 sessions so far (paid for 6) and am very pleased with the results.

Smooth skin is much nicer.

When people say they've "shaved their arms" or had their arms waxed, how much of the arm hair are you taking off?

Also, I've just recently started shaving my legs and chest, and I've had razor burn in some areas, and I'm just wondering if this has to do with the sensitivity of newly shaven skin, or if I'm cutting too close to the skin, or if it's something else entirely.

I'm with Boredarmy: I doubt I would ever do it; it would be too much hassle.

I just wonder why nearly all the bare chests in advertisements are shaven? I can understand why razor vendors might do this (as a subliminal suggestion to shave more of one's body and therefore buy more razors). But why would deodorant companies care? Or shampoo vendors? I think it's odd.

God wrote:I'm weird?? It wasn't just me, I got some male opinions from around here. We all disagree with smooth men. It's just not rugged. That's not sexy- it's feminine, so it's sexy on a girl, but on a boy it's effeminate and that is well a turn off.

Don't argue, what God says goes.

Where I'm from I know a lot of women prefer men who are hairless on the legs and arms and even chests. My girlfriend actually prefers me to be hairless. The women even say it's really sexy on a man. You don't have to be rugged to be a good man. There are definitely other types of men women prefer.

Being hairless on the chest, arms/underarms/legs is very sexy & hygenic.
I love the sensation of smooth skin over a hairy appearance and in 13yrs of body shaving I'm an expert now and desperately want to have laser treatment but am unsure of the risks can someone please fill me with confidence that using laser treatment for hair removal on the body (except the head) is safe to do.
I find the best thing to do is in summer to shave my legs and then go out in shorts so that everyone can see me with shaved legs, I get a huge kick out of it - and touchwood have never to this day had anyone come up to me with negative comments so that in itself is a confidence boost.

I have had 8 sessions of laser hair removal on my face, and 3 on my legs.

There are no problems. Well, I do have to keep covered up even in warm weather - tanning and laser is not a good combination.

Only a lack of money is stopping me from getting the rest of my body done.

As far as negative comments are concerned, they do not happen.
