I guess I could use the excuse about "buying it for my girlfriend", but I'm single now and all my female friends are pretty conservative (they'll think I'm super-weird if they find out I like wearing female clothing).
So what do I do? Is internet shopping the only thing I can do?
The shop staff are not answerable as to why you are buying womens clothes! Women don't get questioned if they buy or wear mens clothes! I find it strange if a female in a trousers questions why a man wants to wear or buy a skirt. We are all supposed to be born equal. There is a human rights act saying so and anyone can use / quote it.
Your friends have no right to judge you either, it's your life. Sexual equality seems to kick in when it suits some people. The only masculine clothes I have are a few mens shirts.
Internet shopping isn't always the answer, I know you are unknown to them, but womens clothes on a male owned card... Sometimes posting and packaging can cost more than the cheaper stuff from Asda or Tesco.
It would just be as easy possibly to find a female friend who doesn't mind, and have her buy it for you, or at least give her the money.
In have a friend, David, who went into a New Look to get some nice stuff for his girlfriend, they teased him perpetually after it thinking he was wearing it (he worked in the shopping centre the shop is in) he got fed up and they ended up getting disciplined. They were telling their friends he bought womens underwear etc, and what exactly he bought her. It was an intrusion of both their privacies.
My friend mentioned in the web link attached to this message does loads for charity, I'm in admiration at what he has done, and about to do. If in fancy dress, he uses charity shops mainly, they generally don't care what he buys. He has been a policewoman, a nurse, Fernch tart etc, and bought most of his skirts etc from Cancer Care and NSPCC shops. He has even bought stuff from charity shops, then gave it to other charity shops the same day, so the same clothes make money twice for two different charities.
Cool! He deserves a knighthood!
He has also though said he is in charge of the 'wardrobe' for a little theatre company, so it's his job to buy the 'costumes'. He does do theatre though. He just walks in with a list, picks the stuff, and mentally 'ticks it off'.
A charity shop in Ayr even gave him stuff at a reduced price when they found out he was doing stuff for Comic Relief! He took it all back when he was finished to sell on again..
He buys his underwear from Asda, there is one checkout operator there knows about his work, and he often uses the selfscan checkouts too. I buy him stuff as well when he needs it. I have no problem there. He now owns some of my cast offs.
