But seriously, some of the stories are mind bending.I really do pity and feel very angry that people have paid good money to hairdressers and really got a shoddy, half accomplished deal.

Fine if you want to wear someone elses hair and have it glued in,inevitably, glue will damage your own hair.Interesting why couldn't you get that service 20 years ago? Basically beacause it is only the answer to non skilled hairdressers who weren't able (or perhaps bothered) to master the hair extension technique ,invented by Simon Forbes and that was only 25 years ago. No he didn't use indian hair, chinese hair and of course in those days there was no question to use Russian hair...there was still the Berlin Wall.

He invented quite the most stimulating approach to hairdressing, and I speak of one of those that saw him live and followed his predictions. He invented Monofibre, there was nothing else on the market, apart from tacky synthetic fibre, that reminds us of nowadays of Chantelle and Jordan but monofibre which he invented, with its amazing quality allowed us total freedom to give clients the hair they had always desired.Of course there was never any consideration of damage,it wouldn't have worked if there had been. His system and the product he gave us was perfect and exciting, and as a hairdresser,I congratulate him, although I had to start from scratch.

Please, any person reading this beware of non skilled hairdressers wanting to to blag away to you, whilst making their money.Ask them the history,if they can't tell it to you...don't spend a bean with them. They will glue away and reassure you that when your hair falls out....it has nothing to do with them.Ask why do they not use a system that does not damage your hair. They will tell you that over processed hair, that will matt and tangle is better than synthetic. Then when you ask about monofibre extensions they will blag away again. They will not have had the discipline to learn to apply extensions and I can't imagine they are going to tell you that!

I have been proud to offer extensions for over 20 years.I have clients who have been coming to me for that same length of time.No sob sob stories, always happy, and all because I offer the correct service.

Yes I am a know all, unfortunately, there are too few hairdressers out there that truly aren't.

Wow! Nice you took the time to give your information & experience as a professional hairdresser without selling your salon etc. What you have said is the truth, I have had the monofibre extensions & had a removal a few weeks ago as my own hair has grown. My hair is in perfect condition and has grown without any problems. When I had the extensions I did not have any troubles with matting or knots, I used the spray before brushing that was recommended. Also the salon I went to does not use any other system for extensions and I am sure that many companies trading in human hair would like them to as they must also have the choice. The reason I think is because the lady who applied was a very caring girl she had qualified with Dome as I saw her Diplomas & would not work with other humans hair or use glues. Also I was always made to feel that she cared about the way I looked and took a lot of time to explain about the monofibre before I decided to try them I couldn see much difference between human hair and the monofibre when I saw the samples and when applied they just looked like my own hair. So I am a big fan and have friends who have also decided to have these extensions and they have all said the same.

hair extensions

I have worn extensions for more than 10 years.I have never had the problems I have read about. I have been going to antenna,I know it is the best place to go,but I can't understand why all these people have problems with hair extensions,do they have monofibre?

Thank you for giving some sound advice.I had wanted extensions forever but was scared about price and damage. I have digested the info here and been and gone and done it! I am delighted with the outcome and I can't praise enough the hairdresser(daren't mention her name,or I'll be accused of being her P R) who has given me extensions. She must have been trained very well and there was no glue or any other substance that really is glue! Thanks for the information here,it's been a great help in choosing the best.Hope anyone else will follow my suit.

Monofibre extensions

Postby Sharleen » Fri May 23, 2008 1:09 pm

Hi All
Ive had monofibre hair extensions for a while now and love em to bits!! im definately going to have them done again. I can clarify no glue was used,I wouldnt of had them done if it was. They look and feel great and I can still do the normal stuff I'd do with my hair, brush it, hairdry it, tie it up etc You get an aftercare leaflet with them anyway so if you read it you cant go wrong!!

I asked my hairdresser about hair extensions and she was adamant that monofibre was the best but she didn't do them because she couldn't be bothered to be trained!! as apparently in hairdressing they are skilled. She then offered me clip in extensions, which really was a bit of a joke as I could do those my self and save a sack load of money!

It started to worry me how good a hairdresser she really was and I have now decided not to go back to someone who blatantly is lazy for any services. I have changed salons and I'm delighted with the results. They have given me hair extensions and used monofibre and wow did they know their stuff.

I have just come back from Bangok and had monofibre hair done in a salon called gadeglo. I am really happy with the results, long wavy hair that stays like that even after washing.

It's very easy to look after if you follow their advice,I'll never go for anything else now.

monofibre hair extensions

Wow,Sergio! That was a really informative piece you wrote! I have been thinking about having hair extensions but been scared of damage and I didn't want to look like a chav, like Paris Hilton.

I googled Simon Forbes and went to Antenna website. Have you seen their gallery? It is awesome!

I am now going to a salon in manchester who is trained in monofibre hair extensions and I feel confident I will get what I want.
Thanks so much,I just wish journalists would write what you have done and make people aware.

Listen yehh, im a male and i have 'real hair' hair extensions

Synthetic is for people who want to look like tramps and who cant afford real hair.

Paris Hilton is a barbie, and if you have synthetic hair, you will look like barbie but a poor version, Cindy.

No1 wanted Cindy in their xmas stockings, only the council estate parents bought them for their little skag head babies

wow there are some angry people posting on here!

I have been looking into getting hair extensions for a while now, I have decided on getting Cinderalla extensions in a salon in my area.

I have several friends who have been having Cinderalla extensions and they always looked great. There hair also didn't look bad when they were taken out either.

Ive also got friends who have monofibre extensions and they love them.

I think thats is down to people personal preference and hair type and style to which ones people prefer.

Danielle, you're right hun it's up to the individual what type of extensions they have.
My prefered personal choice is monofibre coz they dont use glue, i've had them a while now, they cost me £400 which isn't too bad considering they've lasted ages and they still look well good!!

monofibre hair extensions

Postby laraeve » Sat Jul 12, 2008 4:43 pm

There is no doubt whatsoever that monofibre is the very best in hair extensions. Speaking from the experience of human hair extensions I had years ago (which ruined my hair after a time) to finding monofibre there is no comparison. They do not look at all plasticy or fake. I had them removed a few months ago as my hair had grown out. Which was the plan. But couldnt live without them - so went back to see the lady who I know is qualified & only uses this system & I now have a full head cost £350.00 & have the wavy highlighted locks past my waist. My friend has the straight & curls them with rollers. I have been on holiday swimming, sunbathing etc & they are still perfect, without any matts, knots or problems. They are light to wear & are ethical as the hair has not been grown on someone elses head to sell - I just love them.

hi there, i've been trying to grow my hair out forever now and it just does not seem to be happening so i was just wondering where you had your extensions done because i've been searching the internet for places and its getting all so confusing! i've tried clip ons which were easy to use but tugged where they were placed, and human hair which tangled sooo much so i was thinking monofibre this time but im a bit put off by the fact that you can't use straighteners or tongs on them as i like to change my look often. i would be grateful for any advice given!
thanks

I've had monofibre and I used heated rollers to curl it.You don't really need tongs because to straighten it again you just use a hair dryer and brush it straight. It also is different to hair because it doesn't frizz up it is much easier to control. Just a word of advice make sure the salon really is using monofibre, some salons say they are and yet they don't.Then you end up with shiny looking rats tails!
