think you'll find that the damage you've had is due to the glue to attach them and then the acetone to remove them.

I had some Racoon extensions taken out yesterday & they used acetone, it took the hairdressers nailvarnish off + started to melt her fales nails !!!

As a fully qualified Balmain Hair technician i can absolutely catagorically state that any extentions applied to the hair using a bonding agent unless maintained exactly to specifications will damage your hair. I use 2 techniques bonded and micro ring attachment. These are tiny rings (around 1cm) which are clipped to the hair using no bonding agents what so ever, they are fully guaranteed for 6 months with obvious lifting every 4-6weeks depending on hair growth. I have been researching extensions and agree what a minefield!There seem to be many opinions without much substance.
I found a lecture on a museum website which was truly revealing about all the myths.
A guy called Simon Forbes invented all of this and if you really want to know and understand this is the website to enlighten yougo to the Natural History Musesum/Darwin Centre. Hope you find this interesting.

I have experimented with various types of extensions and wish that I had found monofibre extensions before. They really are so different from the stuff that's been put in my hair.Most importantly i have been given a hairstyle,which makes the extensions look just like my natural hair,no, even better.

Some of the salons that offer extensions you wouldn't envisage getting your hair cut there,so why would you trust them in giving you a hair extension style? That's where I have been going wrong.Take my advice if the hairdresser doesn't discuss the hairstyle you want then don't get your extensions done there,it won't look good.

Hi there just wondering if any one could give me a little advice on hair extensions & shedding. Iv had mine in about a month and there shedding really bad, had a couple of hair dressers look at them and they cant see any reason for it as theyve been fitted properly and there cinderella so not cheap, anyone got any ideas?

hi there, after taking advice from people on the forum i went ahead and got monofibre hair extentions done in teddington and i must say it was the WORST DECISION I EVER MADE!
i initially got them so that my hair could grow healthily underneath and i brushed my hair daily and used all the dome hair products given to me to maintain the hair extensions. however as the hair shed and some bonds broke, there was still some residue that stayed on my natural hair causing other hairs arround it to MATT AND FORM KNOTS. it was horrible trying to pick the residue out and everyday there would be more and more knots due to this. eventually i gave up and HAD TO HAVE ALL MY HAIR CUT OFF PIXIE SHORT as that was all that could be salvaged!!!
all that time effort and not to mention money invested into growing my locks went to waste and i woulnt recommend it to my worst enemy!
all i can say is to anyone that is thinking of getting hair extensions, ive tried the lot and its NOT WORTH IT. invest in some good conditioning treatments for you hair and pop into the salon every now and then for a treatment and trim and soon enough your hair will grow in its own time.
guess ill have to start all over again, its just about covering my ears now

That sounds awful! I too had my extensions done in Teddington by a hair stylist called Georgie and they were great,surely it can't be the same place?

I have just had a set of monofibre extensions. I admit I was very nervous and worried.Well I can't believe the reaction I am getting! People in the street are coming up to me and saying what wonderful hair I have and what is my secret! I don't like to admit.....it's not mine!!! Never before has this happened to me and I am amazed!

I do have to travel to London,but it is worth it. I can't imagine why I even had second thoughts about it.

I went there and was disappointed. I have worn monofibre extensions for a long time and I felt they didn't really understand how to create the look I wanted.I honestly felt I knew more about extensions than they did.Sorry!

Hi , I am a registered and Habia Approved hair extension technician and I am qualified in Cinderella/connect/Socap/Zip&Go/Virgin/MIcro Rings. I can advise the only reason I have ever experienced anyone shedding is when the bonds of the hair that Cinderella provide already prebonded have been cut by the technician to make them smaller, this makes the hair shed if you cut the bonds to small. It is ok to cut them in half down the middle and a little acorss the top, but if you cut them on the top then left and right sides this will cause shedding...........and that is the only reason this would happen, there would be to little protein bond to attach to your natural hair. Hope this makes sense x

Having worn humanl hair extensions,I always wondered how Cheryl Cole's extensions looked so good and in such wonderful condition.Now I've read that she wears Monofibre
Extensions and it's answered my question.

I have tried to get my extensions to look like hers but I've never been able to get that sheen she has to mine,they always look a bit tired and ratty.

Reading through some of these postings has helped enlighten me.Thanks :lol:
