Nail polish on men

Another guy for the polish here! Been wearing my toes painted for maybe 3-4 years now. My wife (of 20+ years) got me started when she suggested that it would look 'sexy'. I dunno, maybe she saw it on late-night cable, but whatever, it it kinda fun.
Actually, I find that I am now taking much better care of my feet (no ingrown toenails anymore!) because I get professional pedicures about once a month. And I'm free to try a whole range of cool colors that look pretty decent on a guy like green, blue, black, gray, silver and even dark maroon.
Hey, you have every right not to agree with me on this. But before you do, I suggest you give it a try so that you can honestly say you don't like it.

Be careful though, you may in fact get hooked like me and other guys have!!!

I do like to keep in touch with my feminine side, I’m pleased to say my nails have grown to a good length since my nail broke and had to start over, I have not cut them since 18th May, so in mid July I will be going to a nail bar for a manicure, The nail polish colour not yet decided upon any ideas? this would be much appreciated
If possible a response before 10th July as I do need to accessorise for the day perhaps something that would make me feel feminine, necklace or earrings, I am very open-minded to any other suggestions

im on vacation right now and my nails have gotten pretty beat up from the beach, pool, tennis, etc. so instead of trying to find a salon here i figured id do them myself. i went to a store hee and found a great color. its by new york color called skin tight denim creme. its a great dark blue. id post pics now but my camera is home. if i remember ill post them when my trip is over. heres the link

I went to a Beauty Salon with intention of a manicure then I would go on to have my washed and set next door in a Ladies Parlour. As my pink top was showing at the neck line of my jacket, they were eager to see what I was wearing they offered to take my jacket and revealed me wearing a ladies lace blouse & fuchsia cardigan, I was also clutching a ladies shopping bag I asked the lady for a manicure of course we can do that for you she replied in a soft voice, I told her that I really like to be treated as a lady now and then, I was then asked if wanted a cup of tea, the beautician asked me about my plans for rest of the day after the nails were manicured and I proudly told her of my hair appt for a wash and set next door but one at 12.00, she added if you want to be treated as a lady why don’t you wear a dress and heels, this was my opportunity to tell her I had a skirt & shoes in my bag, she could see I wanted to say something and asked me what’s in the bag? I told her, and she suggested I put them, on out back, and will do your nails after. I was taken out to the back of shop where I could change it was exciting, I made a grand entrance back into the shop wearing plain black skirt the black opaque tights that I was already wearing beneath my jeans and ladies shoes the type with no heel and very flat she smiled and said well isn’t that better you look more comfortable already. I was made another cup of tea as the first had got cold, then shown to a seat right in the window where I was left there for about 20 minutes and given some magazines to read it was just nice pick up a few make-up tips. When the Beautician came to do my nails she saw what I was reading so we spoke mostly about this subject she also commented how nice my tops were especially the bright pink cardi, I told her it was my favourite colour. After she had done my cuticles I was asked to put one elbow on the table and completely relax my hand letting it go limp at wrist (I found this very easy) she took my hand and applied a generous helping on hand moisturiser and massaged this in for at least 5 minutes, her fingers were into locking with mine on many occasions, once the all cream was gone she asked for my other hand. Truthfully I can’t remember in which order she did things as I was just enjoying everything about the way I was being treated but I can recall one of the last she said as you like to be treated as a lady that you feel, I’ve added some extras for you today and to finish I will apply several coats of clear nail varnish to make your nails very glossy you need this to break up the colour (she said that if I did your nails hot pink it would be to much of one colour)

Scott, that is indeed a nice-looking color - good choice! I have found that dark blue is a great choice for a guy to wear, and it does not make you look to feminine if you don't intend that. Some of us are just comfortable with great looking nails and pretty much leave it at that.

I have tried wearing nail polish. Two colours - one was a sheer pink, the other bright red.

I prefer the natural look for my nails, although I do wear makeup on my face.

there are also two others from OPI i also found that i like. one is Yoga-Ta get this blue, which is a deep dark blue and the other is Call my Cell-ery which is a green frost color. both are very cool.

I have been wearing nail polish to work for the last 5 years or so, off and on, basically when the urge catches me with some free time on my hands. Usually some translucent variant of pink or purple, but always a frosted color (I hate solid colors, no ground up mica for highlights--and much harder to get evenly applied, without putting on 2 to 3 coats, and waiting 2 or more hours in between, otherwise "bubbles" form). If I apply ridge-filling base coat, I can get by with one coat of frosted color, to which I may, a day or so later, add a second coat.

Only occasionally wear toenail polish, though.

Never received negative comments. Women nearly always notice, men hardly ever (hell, they never notice when their wives/GFs wear it--guys are so obtuse, sometimes).

I have been wearing toenail polish for over a year and I have really enjoyed it. I wear the feminine colors, bright red is my favorite. I have never got any negative comments.

I'm a dude and just started painting my nails. What got me into it was this nail art stamp by Konad which I thought was really neat. I bought the stamper kit and a couple stamp plates which have images that aren't so feminem to me.

Some of the images on the stamp plates I have are things like a spider, a scorpion, a skull or jolly roger, a cobra and one plate has fish on it and another with musical instruments.

What's your thoughts on a guy doing this?

I think men look cool and in control with nail polish. I have even seen a man with bright red fingernail polish on. I rt did take me by surprise but it looked cool.

We live in a free place so if you want to paint your nails, any color, go for it! I paint my nails often and my wife compliments me on it There are people who have died and are dying and fighting in various places for freedom. In most of those places, one can be executed for being a man who paints his nails. In traditional native cultures, such conduct was encouraged as self-expression - which is what it really is. I greet everyone who asks with a smile but I must gird myself against any stink eye that might come my way from people uncomfortable with gender-bending. We are in the midst of a cultural war in which it is important to represent all parts - somewhere some young kid in a conservative family who feels oppressed might just decide to paint his nails and open up his parent's minds You never know how much good can come out of some joyful, heart-centered, self-expression. Plus, it's fun to grow your nails out, notice the difference, get some manicures and learn to maintain your own, paint them as much as you like - namaste

On the prompting of my wife a few years ago, I began going to a nail spa to have a regluar (monthly) pedicure. She really likes the much improved look of my feet and I like the way they feel now too. Last summer, she asked if I would try colored polish on them. When I asked why she wanted me to try this, she said that she had seen a guy with his toenails painted a silvery/charcoal and she really thought it looked sexy.
So, the next time I went in for a pedicure, I asked the nail tech if she would polish them with color. She was happy to do it, and when I asked if it was common for men to do this, she said that she has several male clients who have their nails done with masculine colors.
My wife really liked it when she saw my feet and she was pretty excited for me to continue this. I actually began to like the look before long, and I was surprised by the number of other women that would approach me and compliment my polished nails. My wife even makes a point to show her friends to encourage them to suggest it to their husbands. Many said that they wished they could get their husbands to try it, but thought that the guys would probably would feel it too 'feminine'. Well, my toenails don't look feminie at all, maybe because they are not colored with feminine colors.
I can only say from my experience that it is something that I now enjoy and it looks quite good with sandals.

For some reason, it makes me cringe when I see a man wearing nail polish. I know there's no particular logic behind it and I know that if we can wear trousers / jeans, then why shouldn't men wear nail polish or, heaven forbid, skirts? I don't know, it just looks strange to me, not that I'm prejudiced or anything.
