New planet, new zodiac signs

Postby blobrana on Tue Aug 23, 2005 9:33 am

Hum,
Just some information on the new tenth planet, (currently named Xena by astronomer and the media), it’s in the new zodiac sign of Cetus (the whale).

LOL

Yeah...

Previously all the nine (classic, historic, traditional) planets were mostly confined to a narrow band that stretches 8 degrees above or below the plane that the Earth orbits (For geocentric reasons we make the Earth zero)

The new planet, Xena, means that heaps of people will have to edit all their books and (hehe) websites ie thenineplanets.com and since the new planet orbits at a really steep angle of 44 degrees (Pluto is about 17 degrees) then that means a whole heap of `new zodiac signs`…

So the new discovery means that we’ll also have to review how we name or describe these things.

For example we may describe it like: The Babylonians mapped the traditional planets against the historic/solar zodiac…
