You’re just maturing and know now what you won’t stand for. Your not out to please a man anyone only yourself. Relationships do sometimes turn into friendships. You know each other’s move before you make it. Do you want to be with him or see what else could be out there?

I'll get shouted at, but I'm going to say it anyway. For most people the first long relationship is not the one. Of course you don't know that, not until you've had a few more. I would sense that you should be good friends, but it is probably time to call it a day (for the moment anyway).

Try a few others. If you still feel that this first one was the best then there's nothing stopping you from getting together again, my bet is you've find someone who lights your fire better and for longer.

I know that you can still feel like it's the first date after nearly 10 years so you don't need to put up with an OK relationship, keep looking, and trying, until you find someone really special.
