Ive been to the selby sauna a few times! I am not a nudist but i enjoy taking a sauna in the nude! i am a mid twenties male and have enjoyed myself every time i have been!

It is male dominated, infact i have only ever seen one female and she went topless not nude. The m/f mix is no problem to me i am there to relax and to have a sauna, it does not matter to me how many men or women there are or if they are nude or not

Had the opportunity of trying out a few gyms/fitness clubs in both Holland and Germany this week. Both of which had lovely mixed nude saunas and steam rooms. Absolutele bliss! The areas are marked "relax/nude area". Good balance of sexes too. This is the way it should be in the UK! Nothing better after a good workout, than to just strip off completely and relax au naturel in the sauna and steam rooms. NOT having to wear sticky sweaty shorts/swimwear!

Those Germans and Dutch are a lucky lot. Not only do have these luxurious multi-sauna complexes/spas(nude compulsory of course) right in their cities they live in. They also have the luxury of being able to take a nude sauna and steam every day if they so wish, as part of their gym membership too!

Not looking forward to returning to the UK the week after next week, and going back to my gym and having to wear shorts in the sauna and steam room at my gym. Seeing the all to familiar "Please wear swimear" sign. Sigh.

I seriously want to emmigrate now!

I think it is about time we tried to change our views on Saunas here in the UK. Maybe if those of us who are happy going au natural did it more often in hotels and gyms so that it was not so no no things may change. After all it is only because you dont see it that often that some think it strange or perverse. I have experienced nudity in a couple of Hotels in the UK and to be honest I dont have a problem male or female! What is the worst the hotel can do....ask you to put your costume on or use a towel ?

I agree whizzo my husband and I have just come back from a weekend in Amsterdam and the Hotel had a great Spa / Sauna complex. The ended up spending a lot of time in the Spa and Relaxation area. Typically, nearly everyone was completely nude and extremely friendly. Altough sceptical at first my I was soon dragging my hubby back in. The freedom od walking around as God intended was so liberating. We ended up having long chats with people who were equally liberated. The range of people ie ages, size etc was incredible. Why do we have so many hang ups in the UK with nudity. We will be going back soon for the great experience. (PS my hubby and I are in our 40's but the age range was from 20 - 65 ish)

It does still run i think! should be on a thurs too! havent been for a bit thou. i might go next week will see if i have time! you will be fine as a single male! often all men but sometimes can be a good mix or a few females. you will have to turn up and see!

A lot of UK hotels are actually OK with nudity within the sauna, they just don't make it easy. Like they'll only give you one towel when you arrive at the the gym reception - if you want to sauna naked you should have a towel to sit/lie on, and it'll get damp so no good for drying yourself with later. Or there'll be nowhere "private" to change out of a swimsuit short of going back to the changing rooms. I don't think this is deliberate, but it doesn't help. A lot of Brits assume there's a rule about wearing swimwear when actually there isn't. Look for the "instructions" sheet next to the sauna door, it usually says "undress and put metal things in locker". So undress fully!
