Older Children

Postby Dorry on Fri Apr 23, 2004 12:16 pm

I have two sons who live with me. One is twenty and the other is nineteen. Their two younger brothers live with their mother. My two have had a lot of problems. The younger one was suspended from school and the older has been in prison.

They have menial jobs for a week or two and then leave or are fired.Despite this they are both intelligent people They drink too much and the older one has had problems with drugs. They bring no money into the house. I'm at my wits end. There seems no-where to go to get help.

How can I help them become better?

The first step would be to talk to a social worker or a psychologist they should be able to advise you what to do next and maybe give you some ideas to try. Also i have no doubt they will ask you to try and get your kids to see them as well.

By what you are saying in your post it sounds like you are separated or divorce and this certainly wouldn't help your children with there behavior. I am not saying that your divorce or separation is is entirely to blame for there behavior with out knowing the circumstances how ever it certainly wouldn't help.

Divorce and separation can cause anxiety and insecurity from children and they all react differently.

Divorced, eh?
What you have there is all too common with kids of divorce.
Any way you can move next to your youngest so you can prevent further tragedy?
The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete, but so is the State, the entity he worshiped. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of man, that state is obsolete.

True.
"Evolution is the process of change, from one generation to the next, of inherited characteristics. The microbiologists see it happening all the time, as bacteria evolve to beat the antibiotics that we have so painstakingly developed."
