people tended to complain mainly about the food- lack of variety etc. I agree that at snack times it was pretty much the same (and sometimes included left overs but only from the previous meal). We enjoyed it, not everything of course but there was always a few hot and cold options and sometimes we'd just get some bread and make a cheese sandwich if the main food wasn't our cup of tea. But there was steak, chicken, veg, chips, pasta etc as much choice as possible I think really. I think alot of people just get bored of the same routine and surroundings so I recommend eating out once or twice if you feel this way.

The complaints I read were also about other guests, rough and noisy with kids running riot. It wasn't like that when I went (though there were alot of kids) that just depends on who's there at the same time as you. Also the hotel did cater for adults in the way that there was an adult only bar on the evenings besides the main bar, and also a rooftop bar and jacuzzi for the daytime which kids were aloud at but they tended to stick to the pool area.

As for cleanliness, the hotel was very clean and modern and the rooms spacious with everything you need- even toothbrushes! The staff were also complained about but I think they got a rough time because the bar was always busy and people were impatient- If you smiled at them they'd smile back and maybe dash a little extra in your drink!

there was nothing terrible and most people I saw and met seemed to be making the most of it- apart from one german woman screaming at the manager saying she'd stayed in a 4* hotel in Dubai which was alot nicer, and as the manager replied, this is Spain and Spanish 4* .

ok back home now so here we go.

the room was small and 3 beds were pushed together, couldnt open the wardrobe dorrs properly because of this, walls were paper thin and could hear the people next door doing everything!!

the meals were awful we couldnt eat anything there as it really was so bad, and the smell made was like nothing i can describe it made me feel sick so we tried to advoid being there at meal times. the snacks that are laid on throughout the day are leftovers which are either cold chips, sausages and burgers that havent been cooked properly (still pink throughout), stale rolls dodgey cold meats and plastic cheese squares.

the hotel could do with a complete make over as everything was worn out and on its last legs. paint was peeling off the bedroom walls and ceiling, the tiles in the bathroom were mostly broken, damaged or had odd ones put in where they had replaced missing ones, towels were clean but small and had several holes in them.

the bar staff were very rude and didnt like the english at all, i was ignored several times and only got served when other people insisted that i was there first and should be served which then lead to the bar staff taking forever to get my drinks and stopping to chat to advoid going any faster.

the drinks are watered down so drink the lager, there is only rola cola here if you want pepsi you have to buy it from the machine.

the pool is actually quite nice, dont use the front ones though as they seem to be for the spanish old folks.

there is no english entertainment laid on here at all, for this i would recommend going to the hotel over the road which can be seen from the pool the OSIRIS hotel, you can use your all inclusive card to get your drinks here as it is part of the top hotels chain.

for food i would go to the AMAIKA hotel ( also part of the group) which if you stand outside the front of the hotel can be seen clearly down the road, this is a lovely hotel and the staff are really friendly and there is a wonderful clean smell about it every time you walk into the building, also it serves pepsi there is no rola cola to be found here! to eat here you need to book 24 hrs in advance at your reception area not the amaika's.

there is a lounge area with a telly in it but everytime we went in there we were forced out by the spanish, they even came in turned the telly over turned up the volume then sat shouting over it until we left, they did this every time an english person went into the room.

i have never had such an awful holiday and couldnt wait to come home, ive been to spain before and loved it but this really takes the pi**. me and my family will never return to that god forsaken place every again, not even if it was free!!

i have never been so pleased to walk through my front door as i was today!

I am back from Calella.

I miss that place, right that is the actual place, i am still planning on moving out there ina few years time.

Ok Hotel Olympic.

Yes it can be noisy if there is a school crowd of the age of 13-15 there.

The pools barstaff take the pish when you ask them for a drink. The actually do take the pish, but the young guy who works there with the nice hair was actually nice to me and my friend, but i guess because we are young girls. But otherwise you saw them taking the mick and things for example - Can i get a fanta lemon please - .....you wait for at least 10 seconds for a respond, - fanta orange? - ... - no fanta LEMON - ..... - ok - ...then they go get it....and also when you askd for no ice, the other pool guy said - remember no ice in the coffee - how cheeky?!....

People who are going All Inclusive get treated alot better than half board (i was half board). You cannot drink or take food in from outside, although you may have bought a big bottle of water from the vending machine, it is not allowed.

The room, i thought was ok because all i wanted to do was sleep in it. Plenty fo space for clothes i thought as it was me and my mother in one of the rooms. Balcony was small compared to other balconies i have been in on holiday. Decoration, yes i did see a few cracks in the ceiling, but it didn't bother me, i guess because i am younger and not looking for The Ritz.

The food was amazing! i do not know how people could diss the food because it was a big variation, there was different kinda of food and i thought it was interesting to try lots of different things. So yes food was good.

Entertainment, hmm i didn't bother going to it because it was full of screaming little children etc. I proberly would not have enjoyed it anyway.

The pool was actuall alright, didn't go into it much but it was fine.

Not enough hott guys i day hahaha!. There was alot of Spannish, German, French people there and quite a few Scottish so i was happy, i prefer different cultures than the same ones we have back at home.

I would proberly come back to this hotel, but i always find better deals else were haha.

Well there we go.....

Hotel Olympic Calella

Hi

We ended up at the Olympic by mistake last year because of double-booking and loved it so much we have booked to go again this year. The food was varied and plentiful and we found it quite good, the staff were absolutely fantastic and the dining room is huge where you can partake of English or Continental breakfast or both depending how hungry you are. You help yourself to anything you want and if you want more you just go up for it. All meals are buffet style. Watch out for the models made out of fruit and sugar cubes which change on a daily basis - they are something to see. The entertainment was so good guests from other hotels came in every night to watch ours.

The rooms were cleaned every day and staff again very pleasant, TV in every room but we only watched BBC News 24.

It is also a short walk to the train station where you can get the train to Barcelona (I think it was about £3 return per adult last year) and walk the ramblas without having to book an expensive trip and the Aquarium is at the bottom of the Ramblas as well across the Bridge past the statue of Christoher Columbus. Staff are very helpful and gave us a map of the railway line and highlighted where we were to get off - it was a straight run through.

Hope this helps.
