Hmmm, wasn't Guliani an unpopular Major of New York until he lucked out by happening to be the incumbent major at the time of the 9/11 attack and all of a sudden he was a hero? I don't mean to imply that there was anything lucky about the tragedy of 9/11 but any major that was incumbent and was doing their job to reassure their citizens would have become golden in the hearts and minds of the people. People need to designate their heros at such times to try and cope with the devastation.

I think if he got elected president people would start to remember why they didn't like him in the first place.

Well we can compare the Mayor of New Orleans and the Mayor of New York in a time of disaster. Let's see, umm, ok, maybe we could turn the whole country into "Chocolate", or maybe we should get someone proven to work well under stress as well as having put in place the people and structure to handle problems?

Well, the Major of New Orleans had a whole city in ruin - New York had one area - there is a bit of a scale thing in terms of how much damage was done.

actually, Juliani was credited with cleaning up the streets of NYC, making the whole 42nd st./broadway area go from Pimp and Prostitute central to it's current Metropolitan version of Disney Land.

New York has a larger population than some countries. The number killed was larger and the number impacted was similar.

So why did I use to hear so much whingeing about him - was it because he was so hard line?

Yes - the number killed was similar. However, how many people in New York were displaced from their homes on an ongoing or permanent basis vs. New Orleans?

Huh? 800 died during Katrina and more than half were sick anyway. I suppose you think only poor people died too? Nope, almost half were middle class. I also suppose you think the football stadium there was a battlefield? Nope, the gangs didn't kill any more people than they usually do, maybe a bit more violent than usual, but not extrodinary.

All those lies can be placed on the head of the idiot in charge whom couldn't keep himself together when the media was feeding off -his- fears.

If he wants a "Chocolate City" then let him. But not with my freaking American tax dollars. Let him sell that Chocolate door to door and see how far he gets. Then let them succeed from the union, because that's not American.

Opps - my bad - you said the number impacted was similar - not killed.

But weren't many thousands displaced and can't return?

You ignore Giuliani's most significant achievements, which drastically improved the quality of life for all in New York City.

When Giuliani first became mayor of New York City, there were more than 2,000 murders annually.

On Giuliani's watch, overall violent crime was cut in half and the murder rate went down a stunning 70 percent.

Numbers don't lie.

I must admit that is admirable and impressive. Still, I would see a female president at the helm next election.

Even if the female is not admirable and is unimpressive?

Good thing you won't be voting then.

I guess that's up to personal opinion. My bet is that you won't be very happy about the next presidential election outcomes :(
