I think that it takes more guts from man to wear earrings in public than get your ears pierced. Pressure that is coming from the public is quite harsh but my ears are my ears and this life is the one and only life I have, so why not?

What do you mean by "the public" and what kind of pressure are you getting from them? I have heard of men who were criticized for piericng their ears by family and friends and also men who were told they could not wear earrings at work, but most men say they have not had any reaction either way from the people they pass in the mall or on the street.

. I think that earrings suits fine to me but I have to admit that sometimes I feel myself a little bit girlie when I see myself in a mirror. I'm not going to take these earrings off and I'm pretty sure that after few months I don't really notice these anymore.

Do it anyway. I had my left ear pierced when I was 39 despite thinking I was too old! I'm 56 now. Had the right ear done on the spur of the moment a few months ago, as well as a second hole in the left. That's all I want. A few compliments, a little good-natured teasing from friends, that's about it. So common now that it's no big deal. I'm pretty conservative generally speaking and and my taste in clothes is contemporary but certainly not extreme. Bottom line: I took the plunge and no regrets. If it's what you want, you can do the same. Go for it.

So my dad is a strong Christian that has nothing wrong with men with pierced ears... When i asked him if i gould get my ears pierced he said that if i could give him one good reason why i should, then i could... I told him that i wanted to do it because i thought that it looked good, and he asked, "So you want to get your ears pierced so that you can look more attractive? Not a good enough answer." I really want to get them pierced so bad, and i will do anything to get them done. I even said "Why shouldn't I if you ahve no reason not too." He said, "Just because theres no reason not to, doesn't mean that you should." Do any of you have a good reason?

He cannot possibly deny that, if he does so, he is offending you as a person.

I think in probability, no answer you give him will be good enough.

yeah tom get yer left ear done. i love blokes wiv an earring. most men i have been out wiv have had an earring. if they dont have one i usually persuade em to get it done. ive found that most boys secretly want one but feel girly about gettin it pierced. i can understand why u mums get your babies ears pierced it looks so cute. me and my mate saw a little boy about 2 yrs old with a chunky 1 inch gold hoop in his ear and he looked so cute he was gorgeous.

I let a girl persuade me to get my ears pierced. Best thing I ever did!

Hi I am a 34 y/o male who just had his ears pierced at the request of my girlfriend. She has been hounding me for ages to get my left ear pierced for her but I wasnt really interested. Yesterday when had arranged to meet up with her to go shopping she informed me that she had booked in and payed for me to get pierced at the salon that she goes to and that i had to go now. Anyway I decided to go along with it and found once I got there i was not getting 1 piercing but 3. She wanted me to get both lobes pierced as well as my left cartlidge. We are both happy with the end result.

I'm glad you took the plunge. I agree: it takes more guts to wear earrings in public than to get your ears pierced in the first place. But you'll find soon enough -- if you haven't already -- that 90% of that is in your own mind. The truth is, there isn't much social pressure any more, and earrings on men don't elicit much reaction one way or the other.

I had my left ear pierced in 1991 when I was 39. That was the style then. I really wanted to do it but was embarrassed even to tell the girl at Piercing Pagoda that I wanted my ear pierced. For a long time I would only wear an earring when I was out of town on vacation. Once I finally got up the nerve to wear my earring in front of family and friends the few reactions I got were positive. Never thought I'd get the right one done. I used to tease my 17 year-old nephew for looking hip hop with an earring in each ear. A few months back we were hanging out at the mall and on the spur of the moment I decided to go for it and really like how I look with earrings in both ears. Have gotten a lot of compliments, including from my 86 year-old mother. I'm straight as an arrow and conservative in my outlook. I certainly don't look "girlie." I doubt you do either. A lot depends on how self-confident you are. I think I look cool with my earrings. And you know what? That's all that matters to me. Don't worry about what an anybody else thinks. Just be yourself....
