There seems to be so many people agreeing with the colonel's deranged idea that there is one wierdo posting freaky stuff just to upset him.

Honestly, think about it. There are a lot of weird people about. They are posting these stories for their own personal kicks, not for someone who has posted nearly 7000 messages in less than a year.

The colonel wants you to tho think they are all the same person...

look at the numbers. who is the true wierdo.....

Hello McMum. You are off topic.

Running my business involves being at computers a lot of the day, almost every day - so in my breaks between work - I post here and at a few other military sites. Not weird at all.

Now go away McMum, let people here have some troll-free peace.

Good to hear it.

What exactly did you get, and are you happy with it?

If I remember correctly, you were worried about your mum and dad's reactions/opinions etc, did it turn out not to be as big a deal as you expected?

Dear The_Colonel,
I had my left ear done only. My parents were very resistant but let me get it done anyway. I might get the right once I move out of the house and go to college. Thanks for your question

Is 14 a bit young for a boy to get an earring?

I'm asking because my third son's birthday is coming up soon.

Temporary piercing

Postby Guest #2 on Thu Jul 24, 2008 12:36 am

Does it exist temporary piercing ?

I want to pierce my lobe but do not want any mark when removing the earring. Is it possible? and how long can I keep the earring?

I have noticed quite a few younger boys, aged around 8-10 that have. I'm not sure I'm keen on that.

I am curious what the more acceptable age seems to be, so far my two eldest have had theirs done at age 16.

Well of course it is your call, but you are seeing it is popular with younger boys -
and you could consider that if it is something you son really wants then the younger
he gets it the longer he has to enjoy it.

I think this is highly variable among individuals. I have seen people that when they are
not wearing earrings I could not see any sign at all that their ears were pierced. And others
it is very obvious that they have holes in their ears.

True, but I am still wondering if people still do consider it to be fairly young.

I also have a 7 year old, but I wouldn't consider it for him, not unless he asked for it of course.

2 sons already with an earring, the third one soon with one as you are pushing for it ... why not one for you, Colonel ?

Jim1 is absolutely right that everything invovled with ear piercings is highly variable from one individual to the next. I had my ears pierced 40 years ago when men with pierced ears were virtualy unknown. Whenever I did not want the holes to show I covered them with makeup. Today I wear earrings almost all the time and do not worry about the holes showing when I am not wearing earrings.

1. Because I have no personal interest in it,
2. Because I am getting old (but not that old I might add! )
3. Because it is not appropriate for me, as a retired Lieutenant Colonel, a businessman and a magistrate.

I am happy for my kids to have their own individuality and express themselves however. What they choose and what they do, is not always my cup of tea, however, I see no harm in this issue, which is why my wife and I permitted it for our eldest two.

I'd also add that I am not "pushing for it", I simply think he might like it, and also since his brothers do, I also think it is inevitable that at some point (if not now) that he will want to.

Am I wrong?
