I agree as well, though I think guest was trying to be snippy and sarcastic.

They are healing fine, and yes, it does suit them very much. I think my mother has even been brought round to the idea.

They are both happy with it and have been showing them off to their mum and their older brothers. My parents and my wife's parents will see them tomorrow (as it is Matthew's birthday).

Really pleased that everything went as planned and everyone is happy.

At the end of the day, all families are different and what one dad believes is right for his sons another one will disagree. You know that I agree totally with what you've done (and would be a hypocrite if I didn't). However, whatever perspective other people have, I believe that, as a dad, it's good to hold onto the fact that you were able to raise an idea with your sons, let them make an informed choice for themselves and assisted them to take the action required to turn the idea into reality. Although it's hardly the most profound thing they will ever do, you are also providing positive support to them as they live with the results and consequences of their actions - regardless of widespread acceptance nowadays of males with pierced ears, it's still an extremely visible piercing that does change your appearance.

Just out of interest, I'll always consider it a privilege that I was able to take my son to have his ears pierced and look back on both events as great father to son occasions. I'll also always remember being there when my godson and my two nephews had their ears pierced too. Was this the first time you accompanied your sons or did you go with the older two as well?

I'm actually considering getting one of my ears pierced. It looks like it could be kinda cool.

Colonel:

Reading back, about a year ago only one of your four sons had his ear pierced, whereas now all four of them have had it done.

So I reckon you didn't realize at that time that all four of them would want it.

It's kind of now for them become the basic, 'default' piercing for them all to have, I guess, whatever else they might eventually do as well.

While they still live at home - I will not allow it.

I shouldn't think they will somehow either. They all will be in professional jobs.
