Plese help, advice needed.

Hi, i am looking for advice as i am 11 weeks pregnant and i am feeling very sick. I was off my work for one week suffering from sickness but i also had a line from my doctor. When i returned to my work yesterday, i was issued with a written warning. Later that afternoon i was approached by my directors PA to say that my employer wanted to cut my hours down to 2hours a day (10 hoursa week) i am currently a full time worker and work 40 hours a week. I said i didnt want to work for 2 hours a day and then she came back a few hours later saying that my director said i could work 2 full days a week, this isnt enough work for me and i would like to know where i stand. can someone please advise me??

Thanks x

If you are in the union then get on to them straightaway. They cannot treat you like this while you are pregnant. A lot of companies still try this tack in the hope that you will quit so they dont have to pay you maternity leave. I know its hard but try to be strong and insist that they dont change things just because you are pregnant. Tell them that you are not happy with the decisions they are making about your working hours and if they try to force you then you will take it to a tribunal. Try to have a meeting with your manager and explain how you feel and give them a chance to talk about it with you. But be strong, dont let them force you into a position where you feel like you have to leave. Stick to your guns. Good luck hun. Keep us posted.

Thanks for your reply. I am worried as i am not in a union, so i dont know if my employer is allowed to do this. They are not cutting anyone elses hours down. I am also worried that if i went to tribunal and if i lost and didnt have a job left either.
