Political Correctness in the United Kingdom

Postby Patrick on Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:09 pm

Increasingly I feel overt political correctness is negative and is damaging the UK, I feel it inhibits rational debate and silences legitimate voices that need to be heard for fear of offending anyone and everyone and results in politicians burying their heads in the sand about many problems that the UK faces. Many other european country's do not have this culture of political correctness, why do you think this is? When and why did the UK become so politically correct? Do you disagree and think it is a positive thing?

The gay agenda has made judging others HATE.

What could be a more powerful influence than that?
We Americans are damn tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November and removed all doubt.

Define what you consider overt political correctness? In what sphere of public life do you feel it inhibits debate? From your use of the word overt I assume you feel some level of political correctness is ok? I know exactly where I think it inhibits rational truthful debate but Id like you to expand on your post if possible.

Political correctness does my nut in. You can no longer say what you would really like to say. It's rank, I hate it. If someone says something to me which is offensive or rude I take it on the chin and give back as good as I get, I don't go running to the government asking for an 'Act' to be introduced which will prevent people from hurting my feelings.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me! It's about time these so called minority groups adopted this.

Trump = Fart.

What could be funnier than one of the world's richest golfers being called Fart?

It must be his real hair -- who would pay for that combover?

He's an alum of my undergraduate university and donates virtually nothing despite that people with less money have donated millions.

And having had the misfortune to see him up close in real life, I can attest to the massive size of his head (literally speaking) and to the ugliness of his mug. :x

No one can carry a combover, no matter how good-looking.

By the way, many of my balding or bald male friends hate me (especially the younger guys) cos I have a full head of hair -- being a swarthy Greek and all.

Yeah, those choppers are bright.

In real life and up close, his hair looks like a helmet, like an inorganic substance separate and apart from his head.

What left the biggest impression on me is the sheer size of the dude's head. He is cranially very well-endowed and disproportionately so compared to his body -- and he's not a short guy. His head is just huge.

And he has horrible, pockmarked, almost reptilian skin on that huge mug. In that picture you linked, he's definitely wearing big time make up.

But he does have serious coin . . .
