How we met

Postby Kelly II on Tue Dec 07, 2004 6:16 pm

I started karate when I was 9. By 15, I had my black belt and was teaching my own classes. I decided to take a break when I started college. About four months after I started college, I decided to take Tae Kwon Do kickboxing lessons. I quickly made friends.

I first got my fiance's attention with my side kick! When I started hanging out with a group after karate, we got to know each other better. He asked me out twice then just decided to kiss me. It worked... That was October of 2001.

In 2003, we started looking seriously at engagement rings. I helped him pick out what I wanted, so I knew he planned on proposing, but I had not idea when... It was late March, and he told me that he wanted to take me out to a really nice dinner. I didn't think anything of it. I figured that there was no way my ring could be ready anyway because it hadn't even been a week since he had ordered it.

We went to an expensive restaurant. We had a nice dinner. After dinner, the waitress brought out a fruit tray, and it took me a second to see it...

In the middle of a raspberry was my ring!!! He insisted in doing this right... We were both tearyeyed as he got down on one knee in front of the whole restaurant (the servers had even stopped to watch) and proposed. Of course, I said yes! The restaurant applauded, and we were glowing. It is definitely my favorite memory so far...

I met my wife to be at a friend's house in Birmingham, just after taking part in a bodypainting event for an arts festival in Walsall. I was still wearing bodypaint, and was painted up as the Devil, complete with plastic horns! It was love at first sight (I think my fiancee realised then that I was a horny little devil, LOL)...

Met my insanely beautiful, fantastic, gorgeous, romantic [continued endlessly] at the Danish version of the carnival. It was just one of those moments where you know it's right!

Made a complete ass of myself, unshaven and wearing something ridiculous including plastic slippers, and had so many butterflies in my stomach that it took me a while to figure out she was visiting from another country and did not understand a thing of anyways no doubt stupid stuff I was rambling off.

Did, though, manage to dig out some school-German and after some serious trying we went dining. At which point the fantastic 8 June sunshine turned into something looking like torrential rains.

Looking like drowned mouse (in plastic slippers) we had a fantastic dinner and ended the day with a very innocent little peck on her neck before the bus took her back home.

I was in deeply, madly and fantastically in love! But the little note with her address and phone number had smeared in the rain and I just could not read it. Phone directories, google searches and calls to just about any hospital in Germany (she's a nurse) didn't help. Damn...

Then the first card came - without a return address. Grrrr... 3 weeks later came a letter beginning with "Don't wanna annoy you, but..." and a return address!

It took me forever to write that letter, making it sound just right - and making it readable in German.

That was 3 years ago, and since then I have enjoyed receiving about 4 pounds of neatly handwritten letters, countless emails and even more text messages in the 4 different countries I have lived in since then. We are on a first name basis with the cabin attendants of several airlines and the phone company sends "get well cards" the weeks and months we get to be together. Well the airline and phone story might not be completely true, but still...

She has given up the job and went back to university. She's doing brilliantly, and has already managed so many of the exams that we can be together the whole next semester and most of the spring and she can start working on her thesis. I am so very proud of her!

We got engaged 7 October last year - and if 1 ct or a months salary is the "acceptaged standard" I am cheap, but I don't really care! She loves it, and I think it is beautiful!

We're getting married in August (2007) after she finishes University, and I just can't wait!

I left my horrid husband and divorced him, was left with 2 year old and a baby, no confidence and so I thought no life as I would never go out and leave the kids.

I started playing about on pc on a night and joined L@L, and had a right laugh, it built my confidence up and met my a real nice man on it, we met in the September and bought a house together in the January, he proposed to me on valentines day on my birthday and we got married in Cuba the following February. He has adaopted my two children and we have just had another little treasure this march.

THAT IS TOO CUTE! Wow, great engagement story. I love when I see someone proposing in a public place. Everything about it is great - the emotion in the air, the way the couple's happiness seems to rub off on everyone nearby, the feeling of victory when she says yes (even if you don't know the couple). . . it's so perfect. Nothing makes me happier than seeing two people so deeply in love :D

A few moments ago, this gorgeous woman blissfully accepted her dream guy’s marriage proposal.

The happy couple are now enjoying a celebratory romantic meal….

That's attractive. Hahaha.
