Broody - I'm ready he isnt!

Postby brunettebimbo on Tue May 27, 2008 2:48 pm

For the past year and a half I have been unbelievably broody. I would love to have a baby now but my partner says no.

There is a 7 year age gap between us, im 20 hes 27.

He already had a 3 and 4 year old to a girl he had been sleeping with for 4 weeks.

We have been together for 2 years and I feel that we could be great parents together and I couldnt think of anything much better.

All my friends have either got babys or are pregnant!Being broody is killing me!

Does any1 have any good advice?

Thanks x

I know exactly what you meen! Its as if whenever your ready, he isnt.
But i got pregnant when i was on the pill, so we had to have a baby anyway. Im 23 now, have a 4 year old and 3 month old daughters, neither were planned but i tell you something they are the best things thats ever happened to me :D
Being pregnant is sooo nice too, i cant wait to be pregnant again lol, but he doesnt want anymore just yet. Sometimes i contemplates whether to stop taking the pill and make it look like the pill failed, its soooo tempting lol

Well your lucky, at least you already have to! :D

He won't even let me have 1! LOL

I'm going to wait till we have been on holiday and straightened out money and things and ask him them, he wants us to buy a house 1st but I know it is going to take us a few years to get a deposit saved and I dont want to wait that long, we are living together in a rented house that has to rooms and is cheap, I personally don't see the problem! LOL xxx

This is a toughie hon, you might have to sit down with him and express that you love him and want a future with him and love his kids but you would feel more complete as a family unit if you could also experience having a baby and seeing that he is such a good father you feel in your heart that the time is right and would love to share that experience with him.
It might make him feel so good he goes ooo come on baby lets do it hehe

Good luck hunni I really hope you can try soon xxx

I'm kinda in the same boat....... Hubby and I both want another one but we are waiting till sept to start trying. When he comes in and sees me looking at baby pictures and reading baby forums he'll hug me and whisper 'You'll have one soon baby I promise.' ..... that in and of its self makes me want to cry .... he's such a sweetie.

Things will happen when they happen. Our 1st born we were discussing, and then i found out i was 8weeks preg... we would never change her for the world, 2nd one, we have planned, and 22weeks down the line its great.
What im trying to say is, things happen for a reason, and its maybe just not your time to have any kids yet BB?!?

A slightly different perspective here... I'm male by the way (for those who don't know)

I've never been the 'children type'. Like a lot of men the thought of kids scared the hell out of me. I think a lot of men who take their responsibilities seriously will feel a little frightened about the idea.

In all honesty I never thought I'd be a father for some reason. Then my wife became pregnant - I felt shocked and slightly numb if I'm honest. Unfortunately my wife had a miscarriage... I just broke down in fits of sobbing - I don't know where it came from but I felt quite distraught. I didn't realise how much I was subconsciously looking forward to fatherhood.

We decide to just go with the flow and about a year later my wife fell pregnant again and it all went well. I've now got a son and he means EVERYTHING to me!!!! I love him to bits.

In my long-winded way I'm just trying to say that men tend not to feel ready for kids as much as women. We're not programmed the same way. Have a good 'heart to heart' talk with him to find out why he isn't keen. You'll need to sort it out one way or the other because it's hard to imagine a more important joint-decision than parenthood. You still have a lot of time though so don't rush into things if he's adamant he's not ready...

Good luck BrunetteBimbo!

I was just wondering how many young women on this forum that want babies are married?

My husband and I married 3 months ago, but before we were married I was adamant that I didn't want to have children until we were married.

I know not all marriages work, but I think it gives a stronger foundation for raising a family. Nothing really changed after we married, aside from the increased sense of unity and team work.

I'm not passing any judgement, just wondering (two of my sisters have children with their partners).

I guess I should add that before we were married my husband was a bit scared of having a baby - wanted to take things one step at a time. But after we were married he completely changed his mind as he said it felt like the next natural step.

I think they just need to be broken in gently on the commitment front

That's a shocking thing to do!!!! Women like you who come off the pill without the partner knowing sickens me. What about their feellings? I feel sorry for a lot of men out there because of people like you!! And why at 23 do you want another child??
