small bladder

Postby susan88rty on Sun Jul 06, 2008 5:38 pm

My bladder gets full so quickly. On a coach tour or after drinking and having to travel home I am bursting to wee and often wonder if I will be able to hold on. Any other girls have this problem, how do you cope, is there anyway I can train my bladder to have a greater capacity.

Dear Susan

Trust me, you are not alone :-) Lots of women, and men, have various degrees of problems with their bladders or with holding it (or rather, not holding it).

I, for one, am among them. I have very little to no bladder control (due to nerve damage), which many years ago forced me to start wearing protection 24/7. Pretty frustrating and depressing at first, but I quickly decided not to let it stop me in living my life and in doing what I wanted to do. And today I find my special underwear to be both comfortable, secure and practical.
Medication did not work for me, while for others it does.

Yes, I know the urge feeling. Although I often hardly get any signal at all, I other times feel a strong urge. In my case I cannot hold it and reaching a toilet is out of the question, so to speak.

It sounds like you have a strong urge, yet manage to hold it, which is good. However, from your description it sounds like you need to be aware of how much you drink and where the nearest ladies room is.
I am not sure how much you can increase the capacity of your bladder. As far as I know, it will not easily get any larger than it is. What is a matter of training, though, is the bladder muscles ability to keep "closed". The stronger the sphincter muscle, the less is the chance of an accident.

I may add that I am not a doctor and my knowledge is based on what I have read on the issue over the years :-) If there are any with medical knowledge out there, please correct if I am wrong.

Which reminds me that if you get into serious trouble with your bladder or cannot hold it and have accidents, you should see your doctor.

Smiles and best wishes,
Kathy

Dear Susan

I do know exactly what you are going through I have a weak bladder which I inherited from my Mum. Ive been to the doctors a few times but they say theres nothing wrong just that I cant hold off going to the toilet for very long. Usually at work I go to the ladies about once an hour or so and just sit on the loo. Sometimes I manage more than others depending on how much Ive been drinking. If I have been out its a bit more tricky and usually I go to the ladies whenever I can even if i dont really want to go. I feel a bit sorry for you as it must be very difficult sitting on a coach needing a wee. what are you usually wearing? can you hold yourself a bit?

The best thing is to always go and sit on the loo before you get on the coach or go out, I do as a matter of habbit even if sometimes Im sitting there for a few minutes and then only manage a little trickle.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi Susan.

I recently read another thread concerning this and was told that I was just weird, but hell, here goes.

I travel a lot and spend a lot of time driving, I hate stopping so when I travel I wear a nappy and plastic/rubber knickers, that way I can relieve myself whilst stationary, or if I’m feeling kinky at 100mph.
I have used disposable nappies as well as terry nappies, but always with plastic/rubber knickers.

Some people find this disterbing/disgusting and think I am perverted, (yes I am, but not for wearing a nappy, lol.) but I feel a lot safer wearing and peeing in my nappy and plastic/rubber pants than having to stop and squat somewhere dark and isolated. It is also far safer not to have to leave the car.

There are many web sites where you can order nappies and plastic/rubber pants without being thought of as a sexual deviant, do a search for incontinent wear, or you could just go for the kinky plastic clothing thing, lol. I hope this has helped you.

Sandie.

As I have said in other threads, my partner needs to wear adult nappies and plastic pants. I often borrow them if I think I am going to be somewhere where there will not be a toilet available, such as on a coach or a long car journey. I think its far better to use a nappy than have to face desperation or to crouch down in public. I've got quite used to wearing nappies now and can't see why so much fuss is made about the subject. They are comfortable, don't show and provide a fantastic sense of security. I recommend that more of you try wearing them and let us all know what you think. Adult nappies seem to have a certain stigma but they shouldn't have. Its not just old people who have weak bladders and these days, the nappies all seem to have some sort of odour control built in so no worries there.

An alternative thought...my job means that I often can't pee for 9 hours or more, at the same time as having to stay hydrated. I've trained myself by holding for as long as I can once a week, not taking no for an answer from my bladder. I also do a lot of kegel exercises. I've doubled my capacity from 800ml to 1600ml. It sounds like you may be looking to go from 400 to 800 or so, but it's prob worth a try. I find that I get my first urge to pee at about 400 ml, but don't get desperate till about 1200ml, then can hold it till about 1600ml. I can still control myself at that point, but the pain just gets too much!

Good luck!

the fact is your sexuality is your choice and you can actually change your first urge to pee and you dont need to tell any one its alls your choice so dont worry about you family and get out there and experiment till it empties some okay

My partner has this problem and was advised to do exercises when possible. As soon as you start to pee count quickly to 5, then attempt to stop, count to 5 and start again, then repeat as often as you can until finished.

Believe me, it is not easy to keep doing, especially when you really need to go, but your muscles will improve over time.

For me its not stopping when I need to wee its starting. I usually have to sit for a couple of minutes or so to start weeing then it starts in trickles until i finally do a long wee. I do have a small bladder so have to repeat this process quite often

I wonder if you have ever been diagnosed as having a tilted uterus. I know some pregnant ladies who have this and have a hard time to start to pee when they are full like first pee of the day

Its a common problem. I dont think Ive got a small bladder as such but I often find I need to wee quite often when Ive been drinking certain things. Coffee is always a killer (as is beer - but I think thats just cos it comes in large measures  ) and having to wait around for bus or train on a cold day is a real nightmare.

My advice is go to the loo before immediately before you head into a situation where you wont be able to pee. If your going on any kind of journey, try a plot a route that gives you opportunities to pee on the way - you need to know where all the public loos are and where you can discretely "pop a squat" (I know some people will be repulsed by this but when you gotta go, you gotta go - peeing in the bushes or in some other discrete spot has got to be better than suffering the agony of a full bladder).

Also, the world is finally waking up to the fact that many women have bladder problems and there are plenty of pads available now that will soak up small leakages. Just dont empty your bladder into one and expect it cope...

Yes, thank goodness the world seems to be waking up to the problem and becoming much more open about it. I often wear Tena pants but as Vicki says, don't expect them to hold too much. Also, like all protection, they do get heavier when wet so its best to put a pair of knickers over them otherwise they do feel they are sagging particularly if you are wearing a skirt. That said, I think Tena pants are great and I am so pleased that the problem lots of us have now seems to be much more widely accepted.
