Supporting gay children and the "coming out" proce

Postby The Colonel on Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:23 pm

This thread will probably attract negative attention; however, I feel it is an important thread to contain within a parenting section, since statistically 10% of parents will have a gay or bisexual child.

So, this thread is for parents with gay/bisexual children, or other relatives and friends of gay people. Also, it can be for gay teenagers/adults to ask and talk about their experiences/worries/problems etc.

Essentially, this is about gay children “coming out” and other issues relating to the same (e.g. prejudice your children face) etc.

This is for sensible discussion and bigots can stay well away.

I invite people to share their experiences.

Rules of this thread:

1. I, the Colonel, am in complete control of this thread and will set the agenda for the thread as stated,

2. This thread is for help and/or discussion relating to the topic area and NOT for personal, offensive, religious or other rants or opposition,

3. Anybody, member or guest is free to join in provided they adhere to Points 1 and 2.

4. I will contact the Admins to remove any offensive posts that do not relate to the topic as stated.

The Colonel.

You can beat the gayness out of the child.

The people who are able to come out to their parents it is a very brave thing to do. Something I will never I am ashamed to say I do not think will ever happen in my case because I am too scared.

It is easy to say "don't be scared", but I really think you should try and tell them.

Many parents don't react as bad as you might think.

How old are you?
