Working whilst pregnant?

Postby fairytalewithu on Wed Jun 11, 2008 1:03 pm

Hi all, can anyone relate to this? I hope I'm not the only one feeling this way as I feel totally useless.

I found out I was pregnant whilst I was jobsearching. Me and my partner and the whole family are thrilled. However, although I'm applying for jobs and getting interviews, I haven't been able to attend any of them as I feel sick all day long and sometimes it gets so bad I just have to lie down. I don't know how I'm going to work whilst I'm pregnant? I might be able to do some work from home but it would be great to know if any of you girls out there are in the same predicament as me.

I salute all of you who are able to get up and go to work for the day. Me, I end up staying most of the day at home watching tv, reading, going on the internet and relaxing but I feel useless as in between time I feel ill and can't do much. I leave the house on occasions and go for a little stroll and then start to feel tired and sick again. Meh!

Please, anyone out there like this?

Hi - I know this wont sound great, but with my 1st child, i was working until 1 1/2 months before due. I had no sickness nausea, but was very tired and would find myself dropping off at my desk!! and after half 10 i was fine until i got home and would crash on the sofa until hubby came home at 6.30. I never really understood why i was to tired, but when i hit the 2nd trimester it was overnight and i was fine again, until the last 4weeks, and again, i would drop asleep at 9am (after getting up at 7.30) and again at anytime between 3-5am!
I think if its your 1st its something that your going to have to wait until your sickness/nausea moves on, and then start thinking about getting maybe a part time job?! then you can still have time to relax or have a lie down if your not feeling 100%. I am 22wk preg with #2 and have again not had any sickness or nausea, and this time, i have had no tiredness, but as soon as 10.30 in the evening comes im finding my self shattered and ready to go to bed... so it does get easier!!

My wife was due last Friday (4 days ago) and is still working full time. Taking time off is out of the question for her, we're both very hard workers.

She plans to return to work 4 days after the baby is born, we'll bring him with us to our business and keep an extra crib near the cash counter.

I think the worst thing about women working when they are pregnant is that they distract all their male work colleagues who get turned on by the sight of their sexy bump. LOL
