21 and still kept in

Do you think it's wrong for a 21 yr old girl to stay at her bf's for the night? Do you feel a 21 yr old girl still living at home should have a curfew? When does going out become too much I'm 21 and still living at home. I work part time and attend college as studying Business Management. MY PARENTS ARE RIDICULOUSLY STRICT, and it's making life at home a living hell. Basically, I'm either working, studying, at the gym, or out 2 or 3 times a week with my bf or friends. My dad has been giving me a hard time saying that I'm never home, and even if I go out with my friends or bf which does not entail drinking or drugs, rather watching movies, playing video games or out to dinner he complains that I am not home enough. My parents really don't have any hobbies or go out much anymore. I always invite my mum out to dinner with us or to meet my bf's parents etc. But she prefers to stay home on her pc and play internet games. My dad watches the TV all day long! SO I guess in their eyes I do a lot! I have a curfew, which my friends say is ridiculous. But they live in thier own places, not with family. My biggest concern is going to be when my bf buys his own place. My dad already laid down the line by saying that I'm not going to be staying there past 12 as he thinks its dangerous for me to be driving home at late. Of course, I cant stay over his house that looks BAD!! I beg to differ I'm not one of those girls. I;ve always been my own person, and they have even admitted that to people. My question pretty how do I get my parents to treat me like an adult, cut me a little slack, and simple let me stay over my bf's for once. I'm 21! Parents never want to give you credit for all of your responsiblities that you mantain, but whenever they feel like you're getting a little too much slack they make 21 sound like you're not nearly an adult!!

Yep, they are far too restictive. You sound a reasonable young woman who needs to take full charge over your life, sharing with your parents that part that you think appropriate.

The world is a difficult and sometimes dangerous place, but lets face it. Its not THAT dangerous that a parent should cottonball a 21 y/o. At 21 I was in the jungle in Borneo being chased around by and chasing Indonesians with killing on their mind! College and b/f sounds a bit of a doddle!

You are 21 and you need to tell them that, you are a full adult and have as much rights as they do.

Only thing that is a problem though is all the time you live in their house they probably expect you to obey the rules.

Move out!!!!! they can't stop you from not living there they have no control over what you do with your life anymore, you are an adult.

I know what I am about to say is going to sound a little weird - but I think you will agree it is true.

You are very lucky that your parents love you so much. It is not that they don't want you to go out and have a good time - they do, however they don't want you to get hurt - can you blame them for that. Their concern for your safety and well being is more important to them than your wishes to spend more time socialising.

As to treating you like an adult - well you have one little problem there - all parents see their children as "their children" - so you need to understand that in many ways it is their love and concern for you which finds you in this situation.

I am a guy and at 21 I had the same issues - the good news it is gets better. Rest assured your parents only mean the best for you and in time you will get the free time you want - you may not agree with me now but be assured in the future there will be a time when you will choose to be with your parents.

Best of luck.

Samm, It's not about how do you get them to let you, it's about how do you decide to... You are an adult! If you want to go and spend the night with your boyfirend there is nothing they can really do to stop you. You will probably end up with a few fireworks, but at the end of the day you have to take ownership of your own life.
