dyed black hair

Postby Guest on Sun Oct 22, 2006 9:20 pm

so my hair is naturally black (or darkish brown) and i've been dying it blonde for the past few years. so yesterday i decided i wanted to go back to black so i dyed it black...bad idea!!!! it's way too dark, and in a way it looks like a wig even. so i was wondering, how can i lighten this. i dont wanna go blonde or anything, i just want a darkish brown colour, close to black. i just think jet black is way too dark, so i want a little bit of brown that'll show in the sunlight. i was going to just get a dark brown kit and put it over, but will that do anything at all, or is the black going to still over power it? any suggestions???

For people that want to dye their hair black..I suggest using a temporary dye to see if you like it and then you won't have all that trouble with bleaching it if you decide you hate it.

I have been dying my hair dark bronw for the last 4 yrs, I decided this week that I wanted to go a caramel kinda colour so.... I went to tony and guy and came out with the same dark brown but with a red panel in my fringe and I hate it. It would look good on my brothers sister who is EMO but I am a white linen trouser kinda girl.

Does anyone know if i can strip the red toner out and re dye it dark brown or is it best to leave it?

I have been thinkign about going to another salon to have what i originally wanted but this cut and colour cost me £90

dying over black hair

hiya, iv recently dyed over my dyed black hair from jet black to light blonde, if, u just want blonde highlights, the best thing to do, is buy a highlighting cap, and at least 40 vol peroxide and some lightening powder bleach, what you do it, mix them up following the instructions for the ratios, then highlight the hair pulled thru the cap, it will be bright orange, then you wash the bleach whilst still wearing the cap, and bleach it again, and again until, you have a nice set of blonde highlights, and don't worry about damaging the hair, you can buy special non drying, non flaking bleach from sallys product store, it's what i did, and it looks great. i hope my advice has helped xx

Super Blonde

Postby Kittee on Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:26 pm

Ok, so I have my hair dyed black right now. I love black hair, but I can't stand to go without change, and I really want blonde hair. I got this stuff called Super Blonde by L'Oreal, and it says on the box that you can use it over color-treated hair. So I bought it, then read the instructions and warnings INSIDE the box. And that's where it said to not use it over metallic dye. Well I had used Feria to dye it black. That sucks! I know black is the color of no return and I should know by now since I've been dying my hair often for the past 5 years, but...I was stupid. And used Feria. Because I wanted the darkest black I could get my hands on. I've already had a horrible experience with bleach in the past (my hair turned into mush and big chunks of it was breaking off) and I DEFINITELY don't want that to happen again. So I want to know if I'm supposed to let the dye completely grow out or what? It's already faded like crazy (Feria kind of sucks as far as being "permanent" goes), but is it still unsafe? :( And if it isn't safe, is there anything I can do to completely get the dye out without killing my hair? And if I have to go to a salon, will it cost me an arm and a leg? Thanks...

I have dyed black hair too and want to get rid of it now, I also had dyed hair last year and got rid of it with a colour corrector, or a colour stripper, yeah it might dry ur hair out for a while but thats what u gotta put up with for a while, it does work i did it myself AND dyed it light brown the same day and my hair is still on my head LOL we r women, we do this sort of thing and then get fed up of it lol

Hair dilemmas!

I've got mousey blonde hair and really dark eyebrows and have had my hair really light blonde before and I've also had it black... for anyone else with the problem when you think its so dark it looks like a wig, go buy some cheap shampoo thats NOT for coloured hair and scrub your hair about 4 times over with it washing it out each time. This will gradually fade the colour (it will normally fade with time but by washing it a few times at the same time it will just speed it up and it works better with crap shampoo) and then use a really good moisturising conditioner afterwards.
