No it won't mess your hair up, but it won't wash out. It lightens you're hair by pulling pigment out, and you can't put pigment back in. It will lighten it though, especially if you spritz some lemon jiuce mixed with water in your hair, and then go out in the sun. I do it al the time to lighten up my dirty blonde hair

The only problem with using lemon juice is that you can't control where it goes lighter- so you might end up with random lighter bits that you don't want  It won't lighten your hair just by blow drying it- you have to go in the sun 8)

You could always try a cheap highligher from boots if you want blonder streaks?

No, you have to put in the lemon juice and leave it in for a few hours in the sun. I just put it on my hair, grab a magazine and a drink and relax in the sun!! :) but make sure ur wearing sunscreen!!

ok pplz 2day i tried out the lemon juice....
i squeezed sum lemons, poured lemon juice thru my hair. I sat in the sun for about maybe 2 hours and about half an hour inside in a sunny spot.
My hair then got heaps stiff and sooo dry! So i decided to brush my hair which took bout an hour cus i had soooo many knots & my hair was extremely dry! Then my hair went realy static with fizzy ends. So i wet it a bit and then it was really straight!!!
Now my hair is sort of golden blonde its actually pretty nice, but all i know is that im going to be washing my hair 2night!

*PS* if ur going to do this, try it on a weekend or in the holidays, u dont want to be going to school with spastic hair!!! :D

someone had said that if i put lemon juice in my hair that it takes pigment out and that it wont go back to normal, so my ? is when your hair grows out does your hair have normal roots and the rest is lighter?

sorry if the way i worded that sounds really confusing.

yeah, it only removes pigment from the hair you've already got. As your hair grows, the roots and all will all be your regular hair color.

ok so i've got kinda curly hair and its naturally already sorta dry and frizzy, so when you put the lemon juice in would it affect it if you added a lil conditioner to keep some moisture in or would it n prevent the sun from making it any lighter. any tips?
