boy friend? boyfriend?

im not really sure how to word all this so im just goin to blab it all out

theres this bloke who ive always been really great friends with, hes had a girlfriend for two years and a couple of months ago they got engaged.
well shes really controlling and she found out about me and him kissing ages ago (theyd temporarily split up at the time) and she rang me up having a go at me. he went mad at her and then they split up a couple of weeks later over something else - she told him to come on holiday with her and her family the following day and he said no, so she said u either come or were over, so he said goodbye!

anyway, shes since been on holiday and is due back tomorrow, since then hes said he really likes me and ive said i really like him and he wanted to get together but i said id rather wait till she gets home so he can finish it or do whatever hes going to do properly.

anyway,
a) im kinda worried hes not goin to go thru with it, or he will and hell regret it. and ..
b) i do really like him, but im kinda shy sexually, and im thinkin its going to be so weird being romantically involved with him and sleeping with him and everything compared to just being mates, and if it dont work out its going to be so awkward and i cant see us being able to be close friends anymore.

i just want advice i guess??

thanks in advance

They are over. She said so. If thats all it takes for her to call it off, there not much to be over anyway!

There's been a lot more than matyness between you if you've been kissing, let's face it.

If it doesn't work out between you if you become lovers? Well at least you gave it a go and will know. And it could be you'd still be friends after, depends on how things go.

I hate regrets, and try to do everything I can so that I have none. If you didnt make a move, you would have the regrets and the 'what if's?' Relationships based on friendship are often stronger than normal relationships, and there is an obvious attraction there. Go for it - he obviously doesnt care about her that much, and it isnt vry stable. As you are a close friend, he would treasure your friendship anyway, and he would not just jump into something. Go for it - after a few encounters your inhibitions will fade away - as will her memory!
