What a wonderful way to generate more costs for Day Care Centres and a whole new government bureaucracy to make sure the law is followed! I foresee many many new laws as this bureaucracy gets more clout with lawmakers.

The UK hasn't found new ways to increase it's tax load on workers in years, aside from agriculture handouts to the EU and it looks like this is the start of a new order in the UK. More taxes on workers and businesses are a wonderful idea especially to pay for great projects like this! As an US citizen of course.

No one seems to even pass comment on this remarkable piece of legislation proposed. If the tories wax lyrical over smoking bans, why aren't they speaking up about this?

Perhaps UK citizens need a government worker to check whether their children can play with their toes?

How about this one.

http://education.guardian.co.uk/schools/story/0,,2046555,00.html

"Speaking earlier this week, the acting deputy general secretary of the ATL, Martin Johnson, said: "There's a lot to learn about how to walk. If you were going out for a Sunday afternoon stroll you might walk one way. If you're trying to catch a train you might walk in another way and if you are doing a cliff walk you might walk in another way. If you are carrying a pack, there's a technique in that. We need a nation of people who understand their bodies and can use their bodies effectively."

"The union suggested that instead of the current national curriculum, which focuses on core subjects such as maths, English and science, teachers should have the freedom to adapt lessons to reflect a curriculum that concentrated on life skills."

"the union called for major changes to the education system that included the abolition of national examinations for pupils. The ATL would prefer a system where children were assessed by teachers."

<shrugs> It's a creative solution to all those bad maths, science and history tests...

It is about time the government did something useful.
