M&S Cake help!

Postby gemmaj on Wed May 25, 2005 4:48 pm

I have decided on the M&S plain celebration cakes for my (budget) 3 tier wedding cake. But my 2 big problems are how to layer it and how to decorate it. I am too scared to use conventional pillars in case it all collapses, and I don't like the look of the metal 3 tier stands. What have other people done? Also how have other people decorated the cakes? I was thinking fresh flowers (but do they stain the cake or dry out too fast?). What have other people done? Any ideas - or photos!! very welcome. Post for email address for photos if wanted. Thanks! Gemma.

i have seen it where 3 different hight boxes have been placed on a table to make the stands with a ivory cloth draped over the top of boxes, and then the cakes placed on top of each of the stands....looked quite good.....i guess you could just change the colour of the cloth to match your chosen wedding colour.... :D

oh and another thing my mum used to do when she made wedding cakes, was to wrap ribbon around the metal stand, so it broke up the look of the metal.... :D
