My grandfather uses a net.

He buys packages of chicken parts. He ties the chicken to an end of a string and throws over the pier. When the crab bites, he pulls on the stink to lure them into the net.

We did. My grandfather and I would catch about two bushels of crabs. Mum would cook them. The whole family would have fresh crabs to eat for at least a week. Cooked crabs can be stored in the refrigerator and eaten chilled later.

I once had a crab meat and rice sushi roll. It was held in place bya kale leaf or something. A touch of wasabi. I must say, I'm not much of a seafood person, but that was really rasty.

Hmm... Crab meat sushi with wasabi is nice. Crab meat is something I enjoy eating even by itself. I usually like to take my time and eat the whole crab. Digging through the tiny channels in the body of a hard shell crab to get at the meat can be a bit of work but the taste of the meat is worth it to me. Most people I know prefer to eat soft shell crabs so that can just chew the body to extract the meat.

I seem to remember from my student days that the best way to catch a crab was either not to feather yout blade properly, or else to start feathering before you had properly completed the finish.

Either way, I once had a guy in one of the boats I coxed who caught such a massive crab that the handle of his oar lifted him clean out of his seat and dumped him over the side of the boat in the river.

The rest of the crew didn't let him forget THAT in a hurry
