Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you start a thread recently saying that threads which deliberately set out to be nasty about people should not be allowed? I think I read another thread about three strikes and youre out, which you started, again to try and eliminate nasty threads? That seemed to me to be a pretty sensible idea, incidentally.

With all due respect, despite the fact that I am new, I dislike what I perceive to be childish unpleasant behaviour. I haven't had run-ins with trolls it is true. I hope very much that my posts wouldn't incite it, but if they do, then I hope I will have the dignity to respond in a different way. If you respond in kind to trolls then a) you are no different or better than them and b) you encourage them to keep at it.

I don't know what you mean when you say "I suspect you already knew that". I'm not sure whether you mean to imply some cynicism on my part but I assure you there was none. I didn't realise that you were distinguishing between where it is appropriate to bitch and where it is not. To my mind, whether it occurs inside a bitching forum or whether it occurs outside is irrelevant. Childish unpleasant behaviour of this kind has no place anywhere, particularly amongst adults. It is bad enough amongst children. How would you defend it to kids? Would you say - those kids are unworthy of your respect so if they treat you like sh*t then go ahead and treat them like sh*t too? I'm sorry but I don't accept that. If people are not worthy of being treated well then don't respond to them at all.

As for being arsey - don't worry, I don't mind. I just hope you don't take this as a personal attack; it isn't. Its just that I strongly dislike this kind of thing because to me it is tantamount to bullying and if there is one thing I detest it is bullying.
