I can't be arsed to do it but someone should research the psychological studies that were undertaken in the US about 80 years ago. The general conclusion was that American society was intrinsically unstable and that the best way to keep a lid on things was to provide a common enemy for Americans to hate and fear. It's a policy that's been in effect ever since.
