trying to concieve after coming off the pill

hello! im new to this site, but im so glad ive found it!!
ive been on microgynon 30 for 9 years, and ive recently come off it because me and my husband want to try for a baby!
my last period on the pill ended sun 4th of this month.
since then i have had dizzy spells, feeling sick, stomach cramps different from peroid pains. im more tierd than usual. my appetite has increased! my breasts are tender and look darker too me! and now today i went to the toilet thismorning and im having a dark bleed.
i dont feel myself at the moment at all!!
just wondered if anyone else has had these symptons at all?
i did do a pregnancy test just to be sure, but no baby yet!!

can anyone help?

Hi Natalie - I was on Microgynon for 10 years and came off it about 2 years ago (no baby yet; but we've only been trying on and off so don't panic!) and I had all the symptoms you describe and more. For about 4 months I didn't have a period and either felt pregnant or menopausal - I had symptoms of both. It was a nightmare and I was very fed-up. I'm pretty regular now though; and I've heard storied of women coming off the pill and either falling pregnant or their cycles return to normal straight away.

Unfortunately there are no rules or guidelines - everyone is different. You might be pregnant and it's too early to show up on a test or else your cycle is just messed up! But if your period doesn't return to normal in a few cycles or you have concerns then talk to your doctor.

thankyou so much for replying, its nice to know there someone else out there who as been through what i am going through now.
just hate that i dont feel myself at all, my hormones are all over the place.
i didnt think it would be like this coming off the pill?
it just proves how messed up the pill is for you if it does this!

oh well only time will tell, just want a baby so much, im broody as can be!!

I know, I'm NEVER going back on the pill - it's fine when you're on it, but it's MURDER coming off it! Never again . . .

You should have a look in "Hellooooo! Where is everyone?" - there are a few of us in there trying to conceive and it really helps to come in and get some advice and support from other women (really nice ones!) in the same boat. It can be a difficult and frustrating time and there's lots of fun and humour (and temper-tantrums and tears - but it helps to talk to people who understand!)

hello ziggy!!
well i woke up thismorning and felt like id done 10 rounds with mike tyson.
my chest is so tender and sore i wont even let my hubby touch them!
i had an erge to take a test and i have one line that stands out and then another one thats not as strong! my hubby thinks im pregnant but i think i will wait a few more days and take another one!!

im normaly on the go all the time but last few days i fell knackerd and i havnt done anything.
oh! and i do love my coffee but at the moment it dosent love me!
not going to get excited! well maybe abit!!

WOW! If you're getting even a faint positive then that means you're almost definitely pregnant! Well done you! You must be so excited, and you're doing exactly the right thing by waiting a few days before testing again.

I hope you get a dark can't-miss-it- line next time!

hello ziggy!!

well i have done 2 tests and they are negative so i dont know whats going on? i still have sore breasts and my mum as said to me today that my chest looks bigger than normal!
she dosent know we are trying for a baby, we want to keep it a surprise!
my stomach dosent feel rite too!
think im going to wait till i have a period now or not and do another test!!

in myself i dont feel the same, maybe its just symptoms of coming off the pill? but dont understand why i had that nearly poitive test and the sore breasts?

Hi Natalie - so sorry, you must be disappointed. It might have been a chemical pregnancy - I've heard someone mention that sometimes the egg fertilises and begins to implant in the lining of the womb (so your body starts producing the pregnancy hormones) but then fails. At least I THINK that's what it is . . .

Or maybe your body is just going to take a bit longer to get itself sorted out. I'm not surprised that you're having crazy symptoms - as I said, my body played really cruel tricks on me for 3-4 months after I finished Microgynon.

Maybe give it another few weeks to see what happens.

Hi Natalie...just wanted to add that when I was pregnant I had a real real hate for the smell of coffee...normally I drink a cup but even if someone walked into the room with a cup, I wanted to heave. And don't they say that you can get a fake negative but never a faint positive.

i love coffee i cant do without my coffee fix, but the last few days i have made a cup and then cant even drunk it, it makes me feel sick!
and i have heard that your sense of smell increases! well ive been round smokers for years, and my husband smokes and just lately the tobacco smell is so strong and too me it smells different if that makes sense? and now today ive felt sick alot and then goes away!
its not fair! i seem to be having all the symptoms but no baby

oh well we will keep on trying, me and my hubby like the practice

HELLO!!

Well i am feeling back to normal again now, which is great and that but now it begins again!
when i was on the pill i would finish my last pill tomorrow and then come on next friday, so i will just have to see what happens now with my periods? its dis-heartning at the moment to see pregnant women everywhere!! new born babies everywhere!!
and you just keep thinking "WHEN WILL IT BE MY TURN TO BE A MUM?"

Oh well just see what happens now?

well if i was still on the pill i would be due on yesterday and reading all the forums from women who said that they didnt get a period for months after they stopped the pill i thought that would happen to me!

but i came on yesterday! which i didnt think would happen
but im glad because now i can work out my fertile days and when im ovulating, so thats great!!

But boy can i tell im back to my old periods again after 9 years! im in pain! and my pmt is worse

Oh well start of another month, lets see what happens in this one a?
THE THINGS US WOMEN AFTER GO THROUGH? AND GUYS DONT HAVE NOTHING!! ITS NOT FAIR??

Hi Natalie! That's great that you got your period, your body must be getting itself sorted out quite quickly - and it will make it much easier for you to pinpoint your fertile times.

I'm due my period tomorrow (Monday) but I'm not pregnant 'cos I tested already with ultra-sensitive tests and they were negative, so I'm just waiting to get this period out of the way so we can start trying again. I'm always gutted when my period comes - I don't think I'll ever get used to it!

I'm the same as regards PMT - I never had any symptoms at all when I was on the pill but now I get cramps and I'm usually a bit tearful the day before (which totally bemuses Mr Ziggy, things like charity advertisements on TV have me in tears!) but the worst thing of all is that during the 2 week wait I develop every pregnancy symptom possible and convince myself that this is the month it's finally happened!

hi ziggy! ive had bad pmt all week, i want to kill my boss! but i want to do that with or without pmt

on friday i didnt have no sign of me coming on like i usually do so part of me was thinking if i dont come on, am i pregnant?
But then i came on and i hit rock bottom again..

my husband bless him doesnt know how to take me at the moment! one min im happy and the next i just feel low as can be!
ive got to the point where every where i go or put the tv on theres babies everywhere or a friend of mine is expecting!!
i guess it just takes time?

well lets hope we get it right this month?
