Monofibre Extensions

Postby Laraeve » Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:49 pm

I have used monofibre by Dome since March 07 from Teddington salon never had a problem, they look natural & feel light. I really love them.... Much better then human hair exs I tried about 4 years ago didnt know there was choice & it was expensive then. Wrecked My hair after that experience! The weight & adhesives took their revenge. Lets face it that hair was on someone somewhere before I bought it & who knows why they sold it? I'm also happy with monofibre & I paid £350.00 for a full head & they have lasted well (had a tidy up inbetween) & my own hair is in good condition & growing OK.
My advice is shop around but do take a look at the monofibre good we have choice.

Thank you for a bit of sanity.I have been considering getting hair extensions and found this site. What a lot of weirdos seem to have posted on here, with very little informative, useful directions. What I have gathered is human hair is glued in and damges your own hair and appears to have shedding.

You have worn several sorts and seem very happy with your present monofibre extensions.I will opt for these. But tell me it would also appear you have to go to a salon that knows what they are doing and professional, which again makes perfect sense.

monofibre extensions

Hi Sunnita - the ones I now have are monofibre by Dome ( just in case there are other types or makes around) so make sure you see their logo. They have been around years.
Good luck & thanks for replying, I agree its good we can help each other with our experiences, & hair is so important, why risk ruining it? I've seen hair exs kits sold in shops.... anyone can do it & thats scary! Make sure whoever applies them for you are trained experienced & qualified & then relax!!!
Hope this helps you X

Thank you so much....lareve

I plucked up my courage and i went and had extensions.Well I can't tell you how wonderful they are.I took your advice and made sure it was monofibre, the salon was horrified i questioned them.It appears that alot of salons try to pretend they use monofibre ....and don't. This one did and thought i was some sort of seccet police!!!

My hair is just WONDERFUL.The salon was WONDERFUL,my boyfriend thinks I am WONDEFUL and believe it or not I had my hair done in Oxfordshire. Life is WONDERFUL.

I am more than happy to recommend, but fear to name the WONDERFUL salon due to the disgusting iditots that leave,I think,PR messages here and then will abuse a reallly happy person. :D :D :D :) :( :o 8)

I am a a happy Bunny, thank you again. It's all down to your guidance

My advice, having worn monofibre for over ten years,is to check where they have been trained... and when.
Some hairdressers have not kept uto date and their work is shoddy in comparison to some who have retrained.
I say this because I have been to the same salon and had different hairdressers and you really notice the difference in the extensions.
Although I believe Antenna is the best(I have been there) I can assure you that there are other salons outside London who are good and less expensive.
Best of luck.I hope your hair is a joy to you,it will be if done properly!

I have had Connect real hair (practically balded me) and ProLine (?) monofibre (no probs). They may look a bit shiny but mono are safer by far!

I have been wearing hair extensions for nearly 2 years but my own hair is totally ruined, breaking off. It's so bad that I needed hair extensions to cover up the damage.
I read about monofibre extensions and called them and they recommended a salon where I live.
The salon were outraged that my hair was in such a bad state and explained that it is always glue used to put them in and this was ruining my own hair.
So they put in monofibre extensions, with no glue and what I can't believe is these look and feel so much more natural than the other human hair ones I'd worn. They are also so much easier to look after and they match in perfectly to the colour of my own hair. They mixed all these diffferent colours in front of me and came up with my nautral colour.
On just another note.....it cost me almost half the price .
The stylist did warn me that monofibre is only sold by one company and lots of people think they are buying monofibre when in fact they aren't and you don't get anything like the same results.

I found this very interesting,I have worn extensions and had a similar problem to yours.

Thanks for the info.I will take this to my hairdresser and if I don't get the right answers,I will know I am being HAD.
I have just googled monofibre and I can see they do have the pedigree.

Thank you.

Can anyone help me?

I've been going to a salon in Manchester for monofibre extensions and the stylist has just left. What other salons in the area can I go to,that are good.I don't want to change to any other sort,as these are the best I've worn.

Any advice?

Get human hair extensions they are much nicer and look more real than synthetic

Go to Envio they do Monofibre and are good.I've been. They don't use human or synthetic, only monofibre.I've never had synthetic but I have had human and it ruins you hair when you get them removed and they go all ratty and hard.

monofibre extensions

Very interesting coming to this thread. I feel I am a big know all!
But seriously, some of the stories are mind bending.I really do pity and feel very angry that people have paid good money to hairdressers and really got a shoddy, half accomplished deal.

Fine if you want to wear someone elses hair and have it glued in,inevitably, glue will damage your own hair.Interesting why couldn't you get that service 20 years ago? Basically beacause it is only the answer to non skilled hairdressers who weren't able (or perhaps bothered) to master the hair extension technique ,invented by Simon Forbes and that was only 25 years ago. No he didn't use indian hair, chinese hair and of course in those days there was no question to use Russian hair...there was still the Berlin Wall.

He invented quite the most stimulating approach to hairdressing, and I speak of one of those that saw him live and followed his predictions. He invented Monofibre, there was nothing else on the market, apart from tacky synthetic fibre, that reminds us of nowadays of Chantelle and Jordan but monofibre which he invented, with its amazing quality allowed us total freedom to give clients the hair they had always desired.Of course there was never any consideration of damage,it wouldn't have worked if there had been. His system and the product he gave us was perfect and exciting, and as a hairdresser,I congratulate him, although I had to start from scratch.

Please, any person reading this beware of non skilled hairdressers wanting to to blag away to you, whilst making their money.Ask them the history,if they can't tell it to you...don't spend a bean with them. They will glue away and reassure you that when your hair falls out....it has nothing to do with them.Ask why do they not use a system that does not damage your hair. They will tell you that over processed hair, that will matt and tangle is better than synthetic. Then when you ask about monofibre extensions they will blag away again. They will not have had the discipline to learn to apply extensions and I can't imagine they are going to tell you that!

I have been proud to offer extensions for over 20 years.I have clients who have been coming to me for that same length of time.No sob sob stories, always happy, and all because I offer the correct service.

Yes I am a know all, unfortunately, there are too few hairdressers out there that truly aren't.

monofibre extensions

I have worn clip in extensions.I thought they were great until I noticed I had bald spots on my head. This was due the rubbing of the clips on my scalp.
When I asked my hair dresser about it she said all forms of extensions damage your hair.So I stopped wearing them.
Then I met a friend who wore Monofibre Extensions. She hadn't suffered the problems I had, So I decided to be brave and get some extnesions in my hair. That was over 3 years ago.Not a bald spot showing!
They are far more expensive than the clips but as my hairdresser points out to me these are lifestyle not an accessory.Hair Extensions are not clips the peopple selling theses things are just trying to cash in on the Extension Market.
Extensions were created as a semi permanent, hairstyle, something that you put on and take off like a pair of shoes are not extensions. They are hairpieces.
