Hair Extension advice HELP!!!

I have tried to remove my own hair extensions that the beautician put in with hair glue with a glue gun. I have tried your method as well as using...hair glue oil from a beauty supply store, WD 40, goo off, cream rinse. I soaked the tiny hair glue area with each process. I have heard of a hair glue disolvent that just disolves the glue without a problem. Do you know about this product or know where I can purchase it _? The only product that anyone has in this area is the oil process which even soaking does not even touch it. I do not want to go back to the beautician because I am afraid that she will just have to cut them out. My hair is very fine and thin.

You need to buy pure acetone and soak each bond in the acetone then crunch them down with a pair of blunt edge pliers and squeeze the bond until it crushes, they will then slip away.

Make sure that you soak your hair in conditioner and your hair should come back to normal.

It will take some time but just have patience.

Thank you so much for your advice. It works great! Now the question's are...Will it hurt the hair? The scalp, if I get a few drops on it? Also it warns not to use any heat or be near flames. When I wash my hair afterwards, is it safe to use a hot curling iron on the hair? Can I go ahead and color my hair the same day as I remove the extensions?

hi i have had hair extensions and the bonds we done with bees wax in a shoe lace bond but they shead non stop and i have lost 8 bonds in 2 weeks is this normal and is bees wax good for bonding thanks for your time

i sympathise what you are going through. Professional extensions don't use glue and therfore you don't need to use acetone,which will damage your own hair. Just make sure that the salon isn't glueing in the hair.They need to know how to do proper extensions. You don't need glue or acetone for the bst results.

Hi all,
I'm having a lot of troubling finding the right extensions. I've tried so many and I've found flaws with all of them. I first got extensions when I was travelling in Thailand. They cost me the equivelent of £50 and the colour and quality of the hair and the bonds were amazing and lasted for over 4 months. When I got back to the UK I tried Balmain extensions. The first problem was the colour – they couldn’t seem to find any that matched mine (I have naturally auburn hair). Then after only a week the extensions started coming loose and falling out, and more and more fell out as time went by.
I then found a mobile hair extensionist who offered Remi hair at a very cheap price. The colour was perfect and when she put the hair in, the quality was great and the bonds stayed very solid, but after a week the hair became very dry and no matter how much I moisturised or styled it it was getting completely knotted when it was both wet and dry and looked terrible. A hairdresser had a look at the hair and said it was probably not Remi at all.
After that I tried Cinderella extensions and within a week the bonds turned to jelly and started sliding out, even though I was using extensions shampoo/conditioner. The bonds were also practically white and as my hair is a darker auburn the bonds could be seen.
So now I’m really lost! I’ve been told that if I get Remi hair at a salon I can use hairdresser glue which is much stronger, but I’m worried about trying Remi hair again if it is bad quality. Ideally, I’d like to get good brand hair with hairdresser glue but I’m not sure if this is possible?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What a F****** statment to make!! How the hell are they gonna attach to the clients hair you asswipe!!

Do a search on the web you will find that acetone breaks down the adhesive which is glue!!

Firstly Remy hair is pretty much classed as standard hair. It's fine when you first put them in but the quality is poor. The best hair on the market is 100% human Euro hair where the cuticle has not been removed which Standard hair has and is as you say impossible to tame.
Secondly the bonding material is by far the best way of putting in extensions. How long they last purely depends on how efficent the stylist is at putting them in.
The bonding material needs to be soaked through the extension hair and the clients own hair efficently before being rolled. That way the hair is secure and shedding will be at a minimum. The bonds need to be pinched in at the top and bottom to form a seal so that any oil from the hair doesn't get in and cause them to soften.
If you use the recommended aftercare products your bonds will stay firm and smooth but your stylist should go through everything first
As long as the stylist has been properly educated by a reputable company you should get a good head of extensions.
Acetone does not damage the hair at all.
Get a consultation before you part with your money. It should be thourough and professional and all your questions answered.

I've got Racoon Hair Extensions in, 120 @ a cost of £3.00 each.

The bonds have turned white & they are constantly shedding + dropping out.

I have been back to the salon, they say my hair is too oily - that the grease is getting inside the bonds making them weak.

Any suggestions ????

sorry can't really give any better advice than to go back to the salon and ask for your money back.Your hair hasn't got oiler and if they say that the extensions come out because of that,surely they should have said that when you first went in.

I can recommend a brilliant salon in London where they put extensions in without any glue and it doesn't matter how oily your hair is called Eleven.
The guy is called Peter and he did my hair extensions last month and they don't shed,slip out and you don't know they're extensions.

I promise you,no glue! He uses the original method developed by Simon Forbes and it works.You would be amazed at his skill and finished results.

A good website I have found round this minfield is the natural history museum/darwin centre.

A very revealing and interesting lecture by the guy who invented hair extensions.
