What are peoples views on children's beachwear? Is it ok for them to run about with nothing on? If so at what age should they start to wear swimwear?

i understand what you are asking but the question you should be asking yourself is 'is there anyone on this beach who is gonna get a thrill out of seeing my child with nothing on?'my kids are now 4 & 5 when they were toddlers they used to have their swim pants and a vest top as you dont know who is around watching them at the end of the day, but it should be ok for kids to run around without beachwear but you just have to be so careful now. hope that helps.x.

Depends on several different things, like who's going to be seeing your child, where is your child at the time, how old is your child?

If there are strangers around it's probably not a good idea to have your child be nude.

I can't count how many times I've seen small children on a beach with a shirt on but no pants, which seems strange. If your gonna have your kid wear a shirt then why not some bottoms too?

Don't forget to put sun-block on your child either way.

The shirt protects from the sun, pants not (ok, a little).

I think it is well tolerated to let small children go in their birthday suit if they want, always keeping an eye at they and the surrounding. As far as top-less for girls go, there should be no problem as long as they don't have any thing diferent from boys there, but if she want the top, of course give it to her.

This is for "fully clothed" beaches. Where top-less or nudity is tolerated for adults, obviouly kids can go in the same way. Shame of his own body is something learned, and we go as far as puting clothes that don't hide almost anything to enter in the water and trap sand and humidity.

What I do find very disturbing is little girls in two piece swim wear. Now, why on earth put a very pre pubescent child in a top whose only function is to cover & support breasts!

In this day and age it is much better to have them covered up. The age of innocence for a kid seems to have disapeared, which is a shame, but don't let the perverts have their day.

My son and daughter went naked on the beach until they were about 7 or 8 I think, then we felt it better for them to wear costumes. They're now 16 and 15, he wears trunks and my daughter is more than happy in a bikini, both at the beach and the garden. I wouldn't dream of anything other than a bikini, although I go topless quite often when on holiday abroad.
You are aware of perverts, but you must give the children some freedom.

I might let mine run around the house or at a push the garden without anything, but at the beach always wear something, agree my daughter is way to young for bikini.
