Hmmmm. Using that same argument, then, since women are free to wear "little black dresses", say with spaghetti shoulder straps, or even a halter tie, then the same option should be available to men as well. I wonder what Matthew McConaughey or George Clooney would look like in one...Interesting thought...or what the women of the world who think of them as sexy would think of them wearing one??

Whether somone looks good in any particular clothing is another issue.

The essence of my posts remains the same - freedom choice.

There are increasing numbers of manufacturers that produce male hosiery and skirts/dresses so the choice of wearing the appropriate tailored garment is there, however if anyone chose to wear "little black dresses" then surely that is up to them.

You have emphasised an extreme and short of drag artistes, TVs and cross-dressers I doubt whether that would be the case but who knows. :)

Yes, Here's to freedom of choice in fashion for all. I think that we can trust each individual to use this freedom to good effect.

Kiltycol, yes you might not need to wear a tie to eat in a nice restaurant anymore, but most workplaces such as offices, banks, etc still compulsary for male emplyees to wear shirt with Tie.
so much for sex equality!
even when challenged in court, its apparently still legal, to force men to wear ties.
I think it will eventiually change, but maybe another 5-10 years.
slow, i know, but this is a real sticky one that wont budge.

Justabloke,
True, but if we all keep pushing the boundaries, things will gradually improve. I have stopped wearing a tie to the office, unless I am meeting a client and often wear a denim kilt out and about at weekends. Other men in our office and other companies I have meetings with are gradually wearing ties less and less. One large company refused to allow us to wear ties at their premises - "No ties - Health and Safety".
It may be slow, but together men will win.
Best Regards from Colin - Have fun.

I imagine that a frock is quite lightweight. A kilt is quite heavy and contains lots of heavy material, hence the cost and great stability in howling gales.
Why not tell your joke to a regiment of Scottish Kilted soldiers on parade?

Just wanted to say, although I don't like the idea of skirts, I'm a bloke and I've lived in Japan for 18 months now, and at several appropriate occasions I've worn traditional Japanese Yukata (similar to what Tom Cruise wears in The Last Samurai) - they are incredibly comfortable.

don't worry about Alf, he's just a spammer. FACT

If he says FACT one more time, I'm going to kill him...

I don't think men not wearing ties is such a breakthrough, I want to see guys in denim skirts as a breakthrough. My partner wears his sometimes when we go out, but he still looks manly...
