Is it ok to steal in certain situations?

Postby Paul-F on Sat Apr 19, 2008 10:32 am

Is it ok to steal in certain situations?

For example is it is ok to steal food if you are very poor, or are you against stealing whatever the motivation?
reclaiming public spaces as a space for public imagination where they have become propagandistic barriers to thought and awareness

I have no idea why I am a member of the tee-totaller society. Maybe it was something I did when I was drunk for a laugh

I believe it's okay to steal, if you are poor then I can understand why you might steal, but I am not sure if I would condone it. It may depend on the circumstances.

If you can steal you can get a job.
So no..stealing is never acceptable.
We Americans are damn tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November and removed all doubt.

Good point, Lena. Lets suppose a meteor falls into the North Atlantic. The resulting tsunami causes water to go as far as Tennessee to the west, and as far as Istanbul to the east. New York, Boston, Philadelphia are destroyed, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva, Genoa, all the way to Istanbul, are history.

Now let’s say you survive, and you find a hardware store in, say, Salzburg. You are parched, with little left in resources to survive. Inside are batteries, flashlights, rope, rain gear, sleeping bags, propane stoves, and most of all, water. What do you do, hairy back? Of course, you would say, ā€˜no, no, everybody, back off. This is the property of someone else.’ Right. Welcome to Katrina.

That's justifiable then. I agree.

And how did YOU help those in New Orleans, LENA?

Think about that every time you jump on Bush.

Yes I think its okay to steal food if you are starving. But I dont think its okay for poor people to steal others belongings and cell them for drug money.

Actually, I think that's a really good question. Although, coming from an insurance adjuster, I'm not really sure of the motive. Are thieves insurable? :D Well, we know the petroleum companies are, so what is there to question?

There you go hijacking another thread in order to spew your unhinged lies about me.

It is unwise to defame someone who has sufficient information to track you down.

Neither I nor anyone else here takes you seriously, but if you keep it up and catch me on a bad day, I'll sue you as a hobby -- and then you'll know firsthand whether I'm a lawyer.

   Come get some, puppy. Make it federal court so we can really get into WWF competition. I would love to subpoena your U. Penn records to see if you got in by posing as a minority Turk national. There are other fun things we could do with the discovery process, such as how else you lied to maintain yourself at Penn. Perhaps we could bring in U.Penn as an intervention plaintiff, to sue you for recovery of all the funds you expropriated deceitfully.

But you are no competition to me. I buy and sell punks like you dozens of times between now and Christmas. Not even a good lunch. You say, ā€œfor a hobby,ā€ and that’s about as much as you know about law.

The last thing you should threaten me with is litigation, Mr. insurance adjuster. Take a look at your post. If you were really a lawyer, you would realize that you did not even spell out a prima facie case for defamation on which you could file a complaint. What are the elements? What are the defenses? You don't even know, do you? If you went forward with that, I would have you not only for my fees and costs (at $500/hour) but for Rule 11 sanctions. If you even filed, I would crank it up to six figures. I would bet that’s more than you make in a year.
