Cerazette - odd symptom to watch out for

Postby Treetotally on Mon Apr 14, 2008 1:02 pm

I have just taken myself off Cerazette after I noticed moles appearing all over my body! Apparently this can happen in times of hormonal change so I am confident it has been due to this pill. I also bled continuously for the whole 6 months I was on it. It was very light so I kept sticking with it in the hope it would go as I have tried numerous pills and this seemed the best for me. However the moles were a big concern to me as they were appearing at a fast rate. I have now been off the pill for a month and the moles have stopped appearing but I have been left with quite a few.
Also my doctor failed to make the connection when I asked about why these moles were appearing and I had to investigate myself on the internet!!!

I posted before saying how pleased I was with Cerazette...rethinking my opinion now as for the last week I have been extremely depressed (more than just mood swings). I've read back over the thread and other women have mentioned feeling depressed on the pill...after coming off it, how long did it take to feel "normal" again?

I too have seen lots of beauty spots appearing, particularly on my face, never linked it to the pill. I have been on Cerazette since August 2007 and was thrilled to not have a period to date, however, I have put on a stone, which I put down to lack of exercise and my breasts have become quite tender. After finding this website, think I will come off the pill all together and stick to condoms or abstanance! :P

My previous comment about having been taking cerazette for 3 weeks i mentioned me breasts; well I'm still taking it, have been for almost 1 month, and I've grown out of all of my bras!!! I was quite petite, a size 8 and bra size 32b  but I'm now bursting out of 32c's and 34b's. And boy do they hurt!!!! Can any one say anything to convince me that i'm not going to moving up dress sizes just as quickly? Still feeling huge and bloated!

Cerazette

Reading all these posts and absolutely agreeing with many of them (the mood swings, being bitch from hell, the irrational crying, the breakthrough spotting...) I'm just crying out for a simple, spontaneous solution to contraception!!
How hard can it be? (if you'll excuse the expression).

Since coming of Cerazette about 5 weeks ago for the above reasons (plus I felt sort of 'bunged up' having no bleeding for months on end), I have had light bleeding. Every day, darker coloured discharge (definately blood but not oxygenated blood) - almost like my body is trying to rid itself of some sort of backlong or build up.

I'm so sick of it. It's totally killed my sex life and my poor partner is being so kind and understanding. I feel totally unsexy and useless. I just want it to clear up and for my body to adjust to my natural cycle (whatever that may be!)

Anyone else had this problem? I'm so miserable and sick of 'just cuddling'!

Cheers, Vic

Hi all just been reading up on Cerazette and thought i would share my experience with it.

I have been on this pill for nearly 4 years solid. I have not had a single period/ spotting etc absolutley nothing at all.

I havent had mood swings, weight gain or acne!!

The last 4 years have been complete bliss.

Untill just over a week ago. I accidently missed 3 days worth of pills though being so busy with life n just crawling into bed each night and just plain forgot!

I am now worried that i am pregnant, can you get pregnant without having to come off it completely and having a bleed? i have all the signs of being pregnant but i am very confused. its hard to decide this without having any periods or spotting to go by. Altho i have had sore breasts, and slight discharge from them and also vaginal discharge. along with tiredness, regular trips to the loo and headaches.

please tell me what you guys think as i am very very confused!! :(

I would do a pregnancy test just to rule it out, its probably unlikely that you are pregnant but do a test, you can buy them quite cheaply at Wilkinsons and superdrug, or get them free at your GP or FPC. And Don't Panic!!!!!

hi im 33 and i have been taking cerazette now since christmas due to having high blood pressure ( i was on cilest) for the 1st month and half i thought this pill was great no bleeding no spot no weight gain. but no i have had a period on and off probably more on than off!! since mid march :-( this has ranged fro spotting to very heavy bleeding my hair has become greasy having to wash it every day before i could go 2 days with out washing it, and im growing body hair in places never before!! i am going to my doctors tomorrow and am going to tell them im coming off this pill and want to look into being sterilized as i do not want anymore children. i had the marina coil fitted about 5 years ago and had constant bleeding with that too i believe cerazette has the same hormone but only stronger?? i have a few friend who have been taking this pill for sometime now and not had any side affects at all plus no bleeding lucky them!!

but after reading lots of posts on here i know im not alone and not the only one who has a grumpy husband/boyfriend due to lack of knookie!!!

I started taking Cerazette about 2 years ago, after suffering (more frequently than usual) from migraines whilst taking Microgynon. With Cerazette I didn't bleed for the first 8 months or so, and now they are back to normal (absorbancy-wise) but not predictable, time-wise. It can vary from 40 days to 100 days between periods, and there's no pattern to it.

I have suffered no side affects with these tablets, but what I don't like is not knowing when I'm going to have a period (aside from getting tender breasts about a week before). At least with Microgynon I could go on to another packet if my period was due whilst on holiday, for example.

However, I will take irregular periods over frequent migraines (and increased risk of stroke) any day!

My husband and I have decided that I shall stop taking my pill as from tomorrow, to try for our first baby (we have been married 3 weeks tomorrow). So, fingers crossed!

Cerazette mini pill

I HAVE BEEN ON CERAZETTE FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE ONLY HAD 1 SINGLE PERIOD!!! But I had no choice as was in a risk of a stroke on the normal pill and had problems in the past with other contraceptions.

I have put on a little bit of weight, headaches and had mood swings but worst of all for my husband is the complete undesire for wanting sex. Its a very good contraception because you don't want sex at all!!! But joking aside its no fun. I hate feeling like this and the fact I have no periods (although I should be celebrating that) is not good.

I think my only option is to come off it. I would say this, since speaking to many of my friends, since they have come off the pill have felt much better. Especially in the bedroom!

I was precribed Cerazette the end of Feb this year and it's really affected my skin (I'm 33, by the way with one child). I've never had perfect skin, suffering from the odd mad spot, but this was ridiculous! It was like acne, red sore spots on my cheeks. My skin has calmed down now but it's taken from Feb for that to happen. I had to take this pill as I've had blood clots in the past which I made sure to tell my GP about incase she hadnt read my notes. She assured me it was safe (despite there being warnings on the advice leaflet inside the pack). Now, I have pain in my leg (the same leg I had the blood clots in over 10 years ago) and I'm getting the classic symptoms of another DVT. I just wanted to say to anyone who is in a similar position, be careful and keep a good eye on things. I'm off to the hospital tomorrow to get checked out as I know this just isnt right. Apart from this, the only problems have been the bad skin and the longer than usual periods. Before I took Cerazette, I had a period regularly every month that lasted about 2 days. Now, they're lasting about 7 days and are very heavy. Not sure I should be on this pill, will be speaking to the hospital about it anyway. Thanks for all your advice here, it's been invaluable. :)

I have been on the injections (3 monthly) for about 2.5 years when I was 17, came off because of the risks of getting oesteoarthritis. I'm 23 now, after the injections - which I felt were fine apart from some painful periods just after the jab, I tried the implant. Have no idea what the side effects were as the injection takes about a year to get out of your body. Anyway, whilst on the implant, I would bleed after sex, bleed for 3 weeks every 7-8 weeks, sometimes it was 2 weeks on 2 weeks off.

Then I had the implant removed, and had the most horrific heavy bleeding in my life - woke up with my pajama bottoms soaked in blood.

I have been on cerazette for the past 18 months or so. Bleeding did settle down after about 3 months however my other half has told me I was a grumpy Moo on it! random periods.

Just stopped last monday. Feeling better but no period yet (not planning on pregnancy either so the good ol condoms are in force). Cant wait to be back to normal!

Cerazette

Hi all I have been on this pill for several years and have had no complaints till very recently . I have started to get very light breakthrough bleeding after not having bled for years . I have contacted doctor who said do a pregancy test which was negative . I don't know if perhaps my body has changed as I recently turned forty ! What I liked about this pill was no period whatsoever . Having read some comments here though I am worried if not bleeding for so long is a good thing. I hadn't really thought I was having any side effects as such but reading comments here I have gained weight ( maybe age ?) and suffer low libido . I also got measured for a bra and was told I should be wearing a 32 D when I thought I was a 34 a/b !! I am thinking of taking a break from this pill just to see if my periods ever restart .
