the most interesting car you've driven

i was just looking at the worst cars ever owned thread and thought it might be interesting to ask a slightly different question - what is the most interesting or unusual car you've ever driven (but not necessarily owned).

i haven't owned any terribly interesting cars, but i've driven a few that were.

i think i'll nominate a 1962 (or '63 - i can't remember) two-tone green rover 110 i drove once. there was something nice about sitting high up in an atmosphere of leather and wood - and the big steering wheel and long gearlever. it had a funny handbrake too if i recall correctly...

I havent driven anything interesting but a couple of weeks ago I was given a ride in a 40 year old Morgan 4 which was in stunning condition and I absolutely loved it.

An M-113 Armored Personnel Carrier through the forest in Louisiana, knocking down pine trees as I went along. That was a lot of fun!! (In the US Army, of course).

We were the first to test the feasibility of mounting a smoke generator on one (previously mounted on VERY UNPROTECTED M151A2 jeeps and jeep trailers) for mobile use on the battlefield. Previous doctrine called for dismounting the smoke generators onto the ground, and "making smoke" in a stationary, and very vulnerable to being blown off the map, location.

Probably a Viper SRT-10. The interior felt so big and awkward, and the center console with the shifter was huge compared to other cars. Plus the power that thing put out was nice. As soon as you let off the clutch, you better let off slow. Tht thing will spin the tires anything above 1400rpms, LOL.

I went on a Vauxhall VXR track day at Oulton Park in 2007. Nearly anyone can buy tickets for track days. Various organisations run them. You can certaily have great fun driving a selection of high performance cars in a safe private environment. If you look around on the internet, several makes of high performance cars will be available somewhere at some time.

Most interesting car? Gotta be a Porsche 914. If I can find a good one today, I'd buy it in a hearbeat.

It was interesting because it drove differently than any other car at that time. It actually handled well. And then the sound of the air cooled engine. Now that's certainly someting you don't hear much of anymore. And then you can take the top off and stow it in the trunk.

I drove a bath round a track which had wheels and a 90cc engine in it... It was for charity but I was beaten into third by a lounge chair and souped up shed

i don't buy any of it....i don't buy it for a second...

I dont give a toss if you do or dont buy it.....Its an annual event where people attatch small cc engines to all manner of things from cut apart oil drums to sheds, armchairs, box freezers, there was even a coffin entered once. many dont make it round the first lap of the curcuit, others lose their steering and end up ploughing into bales of straw.
