The dangerous thing about a deserted road is the lack of other people to call the emergency services should an accident happen. The victim may not be capable of doing that.

Very true, although driving along one does not make u a bad driver, you can still be good as well as use deserted roads.

Ah but a good driver will apreciate the risks and avoid them. Rather like a good driver will avoid driving in difficult conditions or in certain dangerous areas. By only driving on busy roads a good driver will always be certain that help is available. Busy roads also mean lower speeds so they are safer from that point as well.

Being a good driver goes well beyond mere car control. It takes in all aspect of risk assessment and management.

A good driver does not worry when driving if a road is deserted or not, the amount of times I've seen drivers not pull over for emergency service vehicles is unbelieveable, so on most deserted roads an emergency could be attended to quicker.

As for the last quote, I realise other people may not be as experienced as me or have the knowledge of driving like me, thats when I exercise my patience :)

hmmm well, i think i will go with the deserted road. no drivers slowing down for no reason at all and i can get where i want to in a reasonable time driving at or slightly above speed limits without worry of killing someone who isn't there.

I have been a passenger with several excellent lady drivers.
I do like the best of both worlds; to sometimes be driven so that I can enjoy watching the world go by, and other times to enjoy driving. If you want a good time, try one of the track days. I went on a Vauxhall VXR track day in 2007 at Oulton Park and had great fun. There were both men and lady drivers there too.
God bless from Colin.

Perfect example here about women drivers. I was hanging with this girl a few months ago, that I had a small thing for. She pics me up the one night, and we go driving cause she wants coffee. She owns a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT. She goes blazing down the mainstreet by my house. Which at the time, was a construction zone, and was reduced to one-lane each way (repairing the roads), so the limit was 35. She kicks it up to 65mph and maintains saying "she can handle it", and even when the construction ends, starts weaving through cars like it was fast and the furious . . .

A month or so after that, she is in my car and we are driving. I'm going 50mph in a 45mph zone, light traffic, and I pass the slower cars here and there typically. She starts going crazy saying that I'm going too fast, I'm going to cause an accident, there is no reason for me to drive like this, etc. I was like . . . So I go 5mph over the limit in light traffic, yet she can go double the posted limit and weave like Nascar, and thats OK?!?! Common Sense + Women = None as far as I'm concerned

^^ She built it too btw.

Someone mentioned Vicki on page one, for those of you who don't know who she is, or beleive the mention -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiW8QHq0yUI
(most you guys here can't drive like that either)

Can't forget Sabine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1pklvKKnd0

And of course - http://www.nydailynews.com/img/2008/04/20/alg_danica-patrick.jpg

Most guys MAY drive better, but it's a matter of focus and preference. The simple fact of the matter though, is that MOST PEOPLE, regardless of gender, drive like complete and utter S***.

Hmmmmm, definition of a good driver?

One who has had few accidents or none at all (not every fender bender can be your fault), although a good driver drives as if everyone else on the road is a total jackass, (drives defensively)

One who is courteous, let others infront of you as long as they use their signals, (don't speed up just because you want to be first).

Yellow does not mean go faster.

Use your signals so others know what the hell you are doing.

Obey speed postings.

Use your signals at all times.

Both hands on the wheel, hands free comunication.

Don't get behind the wheel if you are fatigued or have had a few.

Most of all drive with confidence, be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Safe driving everyone!

My grandmother used to drive like that. She was in her 80's. Never drove too fast, always stayed below 40mph even on dual carriageways.
She never had to worry about overtaking either but saw lots of folks passing her - speed hogs.
She was a "good" driver though.

How dare you say that. Women are more cautious, men think they can swim about the roads like they own the place. God knows how many times ive seen men drivers do stupid things nearly causing accidents.

The women who put they're make up while driving, well, they are stupid, but you carnt slag off every single woman driver because of it.

In case you havent noticed, none of the major motorsports have female drivers!!!! You all suck and thats what you should stick to along with cooking and cleaning! Women drive like fags and should be banned from the roads. Cars were designed by men, for men, and should be driven by men. You are lucky to have the vote so be grateful and stay in the house to raise the many kids I intend to father- dont pretend you dont all love it. Why is there even a motoring section on a girls website?

And before the safety argument comes out, and RAC poll showed that 58% of crashes are caused directly or indirectly by women. So just keep looking pretty and please, for the sake of lives STAY OF THE ROADS!!!!!

Thank you xxxx

What a load of garbage (to put it politely) that last post is. Here's a direct quote from the RAC website:

The fact is, over 15 million women* now drive and that's roughly half the drivers in the UK - and yet still have lower car insurance premiums.

That's why we've rounded up some of our favourite myths about women drivers - and put them to the test...

Truth or myth? Men are safer drivers

It's a myth. Or is it? We've found some interesting statistics that will keep fuelling the 'battle of the sexes'.

In America, women drivers are a staggering 77% LESS likely to be killed in a car accident than men, based on miles driven**.

In the UK, cumulative insurance figures suggest that women drivers are involved in fewer accidents plus make fewer and smaller car insurance claims. According to the most recent Home Office figures, men commit around 85% of all serious motoring offences.***

* Vauxhall Motors Limited, Survey 2006
** TrafficSTATS 2007 by CSIR at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.
*** Home Office 2002, figures for England and Wales.

Sorry, where does it say cars are made for men? NOWHERE. And what? So you think all women should do is stay at home and raise kids? Well god help any woman that EVER ends up with you. Get your head out your ars and look around, women can do everything a man can do these days, its the 21st Century.

Whether you like it or not, women will continue to drive, will NEVER be banned from the roads. You know them shows where it shows idiot drivers speeding/causing crashes, or basically just around the streets where you see them racer type drivers, cutting people up, running red lights? Notice its ALWAYS men.

Grow up.
