They are expensive.

No 18 year old should be considering a child. Full stop.

forget the money, you'll manage.

Sounds like you've made the decision you want the baby, it might be difficult (but not that difficult, I know plenty of people who manage on much less).

The money is the least of your worries, raising a child is a much tougher challenge (but thoroughly recommended).

My mum brought me and my three children up by herself when my parents divorced. She was earning £8,000 a year from a part-time job and she managed. I guarantee money is important but I would NEVER choose money over the love and attention my mum gave me. I have many friends from university who were from wealthy families who gave them so much 'stuff' but no real attention - they were so much worse off than I was.

If you want the baby, have him. Eat tesco's own brand beans on toast for the next few years if you have to but have him!

Good luck!

Lesley's right, Babies aren't that expensive. To start with it's the milk formula, cots, buggies and extras that cost, but don't let that stop anyone. Have a baby and live life.

Babies don't cost that much, it shouldn't put anyone off having a family.

Everyone I've ever known that had kids went through a veritable fortune. Clothes....kids aren't infants forever!

The older they get, the more the designer labels cost!
I drive by the homeless sleeping in the cold, dark street, like bodies in an open grave. Underneath the broken old neon sign that used to read "Jesus Saves." It just makes me wonder, why so many lose and so few win.

It's surprising to be honest, a lot of people have a downer on the idea of having children, they think they won't be able to afford it, but unless people take the plunge they'll never find out.

It's an intimidating life change. I think humans are creatures of habit, in that once we get set in our ways, change is daunting and down right scary. The thought of looking out for that new life, protecting them from all the possible harms, wondering if the income can provide enough, let alone the comforts and luxuries, is the job secure enough to depend on the income, is there savings to fall back on.... relationship problems also cause second guessing, which is partly why I am so nasty on cheating and swinging....I think those habits only weaken a relationships foundations and provides less stability for the child. especially as they get older, and "Uncle" or "Aunt" (which are in no way relatives), come to visit and they have to go stay somewhere else.

Like partner swapping/sharing, regular attendance to orgies, open relationships (that is my own belief, not necessarily a swinger thing.
