Wearing boots in the summer

Postby Texasgal » Mon Jul 14, 2008 3:26 pm

Last night I was with friends in Dallas (more sophisticated than my beloved Fort Worth) at a concert with some serious New Orleans zydaco music (it was awesome). Anyway my gf (platonic) and I were both wearing knee high boots...me with a dress and her over jeans. A lady came up to us and told us we were both crazy to be wearing boots in the summer. She said that we had to be uncomfortable and why do that to ourselves. We pretended not to hear her and kept walking...loudly I might add LOL. I just wondered what the other ladies on the board thought about wearing boots all year long. Men, feel free to chime in but I have a feeling I know what the answer will be ;)

youre right that you know what the guys' answer is. there's never a bad time to wear them and you with your skirt would look especialyy sexy. the lady would either have been jealous or deluded. either way, you did the right thing. x

That's what my friend and I thought too. She was actually way too uppity to even be at a concert like that. She looked like she came right out of Vogue...have some fun and let that hair down LOL

I feel free to wear boots all year 'round. Admittedly, they can be a little uncomfortable in the heat of a sunny summer's day, but then they feel just fine after the sun goes down. All in all I probably wear boots less in the warmer months, but I certainly never retire them completely.

No members (official or otherwise) of the Fashion Police have ever commented about them to my face, though!

You shouldn’t listen to what other people say, wear what you’re comfy wearing and where what you like. You’ll enjoy the day a lot more that way.

Yes I agree when it gets really hot it can be uncomfortable but it’s never going to be a totally boiling summer and will probably have cool days too even some rain. So wear you’re boots, you seem to have the correct attitude towards it anyway LOL.

For this time of year light color boots work best for me (tan, white, an occasional red) but I rarely wear black...unless I'm going to be somewhere were the air conditioner is going full blast...or black ankle boots.

That’s horrible for your feet. I hate it honestly... In NY you see it often. It's more of what fashion states you should wear. It's not logical to block your feet from getting the air they need when the weather is warm. I've seen women wear rain boots with daisy dukes... madness! Also UGG boots… madness! I understand you’re from Dallas and the layering in your boots might not be that thick. That’s the norm for you. Hopefully athlete’s foot will never be your friend. But in NY it’s pure madness!!!

Boots in Summer

Postby sixfoot3amanda » Fri Jul 18, 2008 10:12 am

I say do as you please. Personally I do frequently wear boots in the summer but here (UK) summer is often not that hot.

I have a pair of boots with an open toe, stiletto heel and an open back to the calf with straps going round if you understand what I mean. Kind of like sandle boots! Guys seem to go mad over them and they look great with shorts or a short skirt.

i agre with amanda. as she says our summers tend not to be very warm anyway, especially up here in scotland. just as well for me being a fervent tights lover.

I wear boots all year round (not at the mo as im 6months preg!!) But if im wearing a nice pair of jeans, i will put my tan stilleto boots on.
If at work in a school, i prefer to wear my boots with my tailored trousers rather than high heeled shoes - I feel more secure in boots!
I wouldnt listen to the woman - she doesnt know what shes on about!!!
Boots 12months of the year :)
