Oooh I cant wait for some baby news! Any bets on whether it is girl or boy? I'm at 19 weeks now, feels like I still have forever to go. I've got my scan in 2 weeks time, then I'm moving house so I guess I'll have lots to keep me busy.

Hope we get some photos soon!

natalie when are you due? Christmas? xxx

ziggy i was the same as you when i got pregnant! everytime i went to the bathroom i was allways checking to see if there was anything there, id only have a twinge or something that didnt feel right and there i was checking.
but i must admit by the time i had my scan at 12 weeks and saw the little baba on screen it put my mind at rest and i didnt check as much after time..

TGSGIRL 19 weeks boy thats gone quick i really hope you get to find out what your having i was disappointed that we didnt find out and i was thinking of having a 3d scan but i have decided if baba wanted to show what he or she was then it would have been a good baby and kept its legs open for the scan, so we are just going to wait and have a surprise!!

Im due 14th dec which is abit close to xmas but hey we cant control these things!
my hubby as just bought a prenatal heart listening system and i tell you what its amazing, you hear the heart beat and you can hear it moving around and kicking you, im just getting used to feeling baba kicking me its abit scary at first but i guess you have to get used to it!!
when are you due?

Well its all gone quiet from odn i hope the birth went ok and they are both doing well its exciting when you know one of the girls is going through this!!

well speak to you all soon xxx

OH MY GOD!!! I'M A MUMMY!!!

WARNING MOTHERS-TO-BE: TRAUMATIC BIRTH STORY

Just be warned, you may want to wait until you have had your babies -Cheryle...I have still not read your birth story...I will now!

Well...After my last post, I popped my TENS machine on as the contractions became slightly more intense, but manageable. I went to bed, and tried to sleep for a bit. At 11:30 pm they were quite uncomfortable, where I had to squeeze Mr ODN's hand to breathe through them, so we decided that I would quite like some more gas and air, and we phoned the delivery suite, and went back to hospital.

They examined me, and we were already 4-5cm dilated, and officially in labour!!! Still no gas and air (quite proud of myself at this point) and they put us on a monitor for half an hour. All well, until 25 minutes into trace, babies heartbeat dropped to 38 beats per minute (Previously been 130-150bpm). Midwives rushed in, and took us round to labour room.

Waterbirth, and domino delivery straight out of the window, and we were told that we'd need to stay on the monitor all the way through the labour. Started using gas and air then, contractions instantly started coming more frequently and stronger (Good old adrenaline!). Told I was to be examined in about another 4 hrs. At about 2am, started talking to midwife about Pethidine.

About an hour later, decided that was a necessity...and became absolutely off my head!!! Didn't quite take the pain away, so was still using gas and air for each contraction. Talking gibberish to Mr ODN about ants (!), and letting the people in at the window (we were on the 2nd floor) and everytime someone left the room and the door banged, I was shouting "Come in!"  :D

Then, had an epidural as pain was just too much. Baby had at this point turned back to back, which makes labour pains 10 times as bad, and the anaesthetist took an age to come to me. Epidural put in (no problem as was so spaced had no idea what was happening), but was told would take half an hour to work, and then it didn't work completely and was getting full blown labour pains in the right lower side of my uterus (now 8-9cm dilated). Doc had to come back and top up epidural (again took an age as he was with another patient) - was delerious with pain at this point. Gave me another two bolus top ups eventually over about the space of an hour, and finally it kicked in - the pain just lifted - it was instant relief, and all of a sudden my head cleared, I stopped groaning, and sucking on the gas and air, and said "It's gone...the pains just gone!!!" - don't think I had ever felt so happy in all my life.

Then just felt exhaustion like I had never known. They examined me again after I had a little rest, 10cms finally, and they said they were going to discuss whether to start pushing or I had to go for a section. Bubs heartbeat was dropping danngerously low every contraction now, and they thought the cord was round his neck. They came back in and decided an emergency section was required, and all of a sudden, there were about 20 people in my room getting me ready for theatre. I was rushed through, and by now, was so exhausted, and in an opiod haze, that I could barely remember my name to sign the consent form.

Am quite uncomfortable now, so am going to sum up... had the emergency section, had no idea they nicked an artery, and I just remember saying to the anaesthetist "I really don't feel great!" and just thinking to myself "Keep your eyes open....if you sleep, you won't wake up!" My head was lolling, and I really just wanted to drift away. After, I found out that I lost 2L of blood, and spent a few hours in post-op, and the rest of the day in the high dependancy unit. I don't remember much about the birth, and the next couple of days - doped up on Morphine, and the old opiods!

What you really want to hear is that I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at 0839 Sunday morning, we have named him Hayden James Charles, and he weighed in at a very healthy 7lbs 14ozs. He is gorgeous, and healthy, and we are so in love with him. Have just come home after much begging and pleading, and promising to be a good girl and go to bed (I'm off right now!). Just wanted to get the hell out of there, and come home to my boys!!!

Despite the trauma, we are absolutely over the moon, and so in love with Hayden. He has the most amazing little face...will post some pics up soon!!! Thank you so much for all your messages girls, feel much love for you!!! Will update again soon (still a bit spaced and on painkillers) 8)

Big HUGS :bighug: xxxxxxxxxx

I'm back again... Alexander fast asleep. I bet you can't quite believe that you are a mummy yet. I love little boys, they are so adorable and I bet Hayden is beautiful. I can't wait to see his pics, although I know how difficult it is to get things done with a new born and having had a c-section.

Your birth story is almost identical to mine...I went into hospital around 8pm, labour pains came very fast and furious, Alexander was back to back from the beginning, his heart rate was jumping up and down and became dangerously low. Epi that didn't work, eventually had a c-section and at 0921 he was born (cord wrapped around his neck once, although they never told me that, it was in his notes).... they are very similar?

Anyway, if you need any advice at all about recovery from c-sec let me know. I looked like the bride of frankenstein after mine but today you would never know I had one, the scar has completely faded to nothing and is totally flat.

Ooooh i am so excited, I could chat to you about births, babies and god knows what...and all you'll want to do is sleep

Big hug and kiss to you and your family from another internet auntie xxxx

Natalie- you can put a link in by just putting the http address in your reply. I went back to where you tried to post the scan picture and was able to see your scan by going to the http address. Here is your scan pic...

Just copy the direct link for the picture from photobucket and add it like it is into your reply. Don't click the IMG button or anything, they don't seem to work anyways... I've never figured out how to put the picture directly into the post like I can on other forums. I don't think you can do it on this forum, it seems to only accept a link. If you click on the "preview" button on the bottom of the reply box before clicking "submit" you can see how it will look like when it is submitted to check whether it worked or not. Good luck!
