Why should I pay for your health care?
Give me a list of reasons.
We Americans are damn tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November and removed all doubt.

Why not save time and money and pay your own?
Are you not adult enough to handle that?

Because if a loved one is in need of treatment and there isn't the money to do that - I am not going to hold my hands up and say hey ho (Just the way it goes!).

Prevention is better than cure.

The sick can’t work and it costs money to bury them.

Herd immunity.

Collective bargaining.

Economies of scale.

Game theory shows that it is the most economically efficient way of dealing with risk.

It’s just the decent thing to do.

Is that enough?

The measure of a civilised society is not the gap between rich and poor but what that country is doing about it.

Explain to me how something given FREE is a better method of prevention versus something that must be EARNED?

The sick can’t work and it costs money to bury them.
Get a job and buy insurance.

Herd immunity.
So you want a society of sheep?
You want communism?

Collective bargaining.
There's not going to be bargaining with the government.
Already some states have outlawed tans-fats.
Just where do you think the national government will be negotiable on other things?

Economies of scale.
Scale.. that's good. did you know non whites will soon outnumber whites in the USA? Now explain to me the scale of what it's going to cost to give free socialized medicine to the new majority when subsidized by the minority?

Game theory shows that it is the most economically efficient way of dealing with risk.
Risk is best contained by the individual.
When risk is spread out complacency rules.

It’s just the decent thing to do. Charity is the decent thing to do. There is no charity when one goes to jail for not paying ones taxes.

Is that enough?
Nope.

The measure of a civilised society is not the gap between rich and poor but what that country is doing about it.
Then I suggest you move to one of the few COMMUNIST country's out there.
NEED A ONE WAY FIRST CLASS TICKET?

I usually give the religious stuff a wide berth, but I think it's relevant to say that according to the 4 new testament gospels which are included in the Bible at no point did Jesus ask for proof of private medical insurance before healing the sick. Would that make him a liberal?

The Christian philosophy is to teach a man to fish.
Not to work and catch all day just to come back and hand him a free one for the rest of his life.

Wrong.

The Christian philosophy and that of many other religions is to...

"Help others who maybe less fortunate than yourself."

This can take a number of forms, one of which is education that you mentioned above. Other forms include... charity, philanthropy and redistribution of wealth via taxation.

The thing is Fred your taxes already pay for what you term "socialised health care" in the form of the... sewage infrastructure and garbage collection. These things are done not because we are "civilised human beings" but because not to have such infrastructures and collections would mean the populace at large would become sick and ill due to the spread of disease, as was found out in Medieval Britain.

Therefore you are already paying for "other people's" health care. A national health service is just an extension of the aforementioned and all governments know that a... healthy workforce is generally a more productive workforce.
